sure, why not?
Yes! He's playing Coachella this year!
I'd do suprefan.
Totally became a fan after reading this thread. Can't wait to see him in April!

Upcoming Shows:
5/30: John Talabot @ The Echoplex
7/26-28: Fuji Rock Festival
8/3-4: HARD Summer
What kind of set time and location are we thinking for this beauty? I really hope he's at night. That or a sunset slot would be awesome. I don't think the Sahara is worthy, but we'll see.
Hopefully directly against a RHCP or Killers headlining set
i can see him playing dusk into night, a la orbital
A remix of a Paul Kalkbrenner song, but it's sooo good:
This song precisely expresses how good I feel about this years line up. Enjoy!![]()
I'd do suprefan.
I am probably most excited for this set the entire weekend. Not only are his productions flawless, but I think it is pretty cool that he is also an actor and incorporates this into his live show.
k seriously wtf, how is the message board not all over this guy...can someone move this thread to the lineup section?

He wrote the soundtrack, script and acted in the movie Berlin Calling. Also in his live documentary from 2010, it looks as if he is acting along with the music in my opinion. I could be wrong but he seems to be more animated than if we where simply playing live and getting the crowd excited.
No, I've seen the movie. I'm interested in understanding what you mean. Do you mean to say:
"In the documentary, when you see him perform, it's evident that he is not just performing as he would on a regular day. He's performing in a way that utilizes his acting skills. He's not just playing live and getting the crowd excited, he's acting animated, which is ultimately what excites the crowd."
5/25-5/27: MOVEMENT DETROIT
6/6: The Field @ The Independent
6/26: Colin Stetson @ The Chapel
If someone say, hadn't seen the movie or the documentary and had no inclination that Paul Kalkbrenner has acted, would they see his live show and turn to their friend to say, "Man, is it just me or is he doing more up there than just getting the crowd animated...I wonder if he's ever acted before?"
5/25-5/27: MOVEMENT DETROIT
6/6: The Field @ The Independent
6/26: Colin Stetson @ The Chapel
I think what he means to say is that Paul Kalkbrenner is a great actor, and it is because of his acting chops that makes him great at DJ'ing. Imagine if there was no music playing and Kalkbrenner was just up there acting, the crowd would be going just as wild. So, when you combine his music with his acting skills he becomes the best DJ on the planet.
"Not only is this track selection fucking stellar, it's as if he's teaching us all a little something about Brecht behind the decks, too."

6/26: Colin Stetson @ The Chapel
"Well that was a Stanislavskian transition if I've ever seen one"
