I am way late to this thread. First, I hate nearly all of the bands that are appropriately listed in this thread in the first 5 pages (other than the true classic hardcore bands - Bryan the answer is Black Flag, but only the Keith Morris version. I love punk and the classic punk bands on here - but they don't quite belong... the last two pages have gone down that past, but that's Ok with me since I love the Misfits, Descendents, etc), but in the early and mid 90's I listened to a bunch of stuff that might qualify as noise or post-harcore, except it was played by dudes that wore jeans and t-shirts and did not dress in leather or wear make up (which could easily describe The Cure or Poison - both of whom I love). In the late 90's/early 00's I was moving into more pop, indie and alt-country areas. So the whole Alternative Press bands from 2002-2007 make my skin crawl.

ANYWAY, I hesitate to associate the following bands with some of the shit in here, but I think some of you will actually like it, so in the spirit of sharing... these probably qualify more as noise/math/acid punk:

And because no one has gone there:

After reading about it, I decided I want to wait to listen to the entire album at once. I already know I'll love everything that Fucked Up puts out though.

really happy to have gotten to see trash talk last night @ echoplex. crazy experience. sound could have been louder but damn that crowd was wild. stage diving is one thing, but the rotating cast of people flailing their bodies off that stage in reckless abandon was a sight to see. really refreshing stuff.

This could be old news but I just came across it via twitter. 3 recordings of Black flag shows. One with Keith, one with Dez, one with Henry. Righteous.

Looks like Chuck Dukowski is ready to take his turn at the supergroup thing. Actually sounds like it'll be pretty cool.

I was somehow totally unaware of a new Circle Takes The Square album coming out in November, the first part of which was released as an ep last month. This shit is soooooo good

My friends band GSTS! just released their first full length album today. The best way to describe them is post-hardcore, but they don't fit into that label neatly. The last song on the album is closer to post-rock than post-hardcore. Anyways, I think most of you guys would enjoy the album. Its 7 songs and not even a half hour long... so it wont take up much of your time. Also, it was produced by Purity Ring, if that means anything to any of you.

You can listen to the whole thing on their bandcamp. So... check it out.

Me too! Would like to hear what everyone's favorite records on this side of the spectrum have been this year.

A top choice for me is Wiccans - Skullduggery. Mean, straight forward hardcore from TX. Highly recommend it.

The Defeater album is still top for me so far. Been digging a lot of this stuff that Zach has been throwing my way recently though. All Pigs Must Die is really great, though it's debatable whether that would be considered hardcore or metal. The Moving Mountains album is a really, really good post hardcore album

I haven't listened to All Pigs Must Die yet, I've been meaning to for so long.
So far, it's all about the new Touche Amore and Pianos Become The Teeth albums. The latter is actually my favorite of the year.
