OK, i did enjoy Bottle to the Ground, so it would have been cool to see:

    Bob
    Theme
    Kill All the White Man
    Bottles to the Ground.
This ain't no middle of the mall shit.

Still discovering lot's of awesome shit from last year. This morning, came across an album from early 2011 by Birds In Row that absolutely kicks ass. It excels in all the ways Defeater lacked for me. I think Zach and maybe Drinkey would enjoy the shit out of it. Definitely recommend checking them out:

    Soundcloud: http://soundcloud.com/alternativnews...ow-collected-1
    Bandcamp: http://throatruinerrecords.bandcamp.com/album/cottbus (free)

Also really enjoy the debut album front Kim Phuc outta Pittsburgh. Lots of good things coming out of this city right now.

Ty Segall to Release Two New Albums
In a recent interview with the Dartmouth College blog Dartbeat, Ty Segall said he will release two new albums within the next six months, in addition to his upcoming collaboration with White Fence. Thanks to Robert Szypko for the tip.

Segall says the first LP will be "a mini LP" for In the Red, collecting eight songs written and recorded with his touring band. Of the record, he said, "The live band is so much different than me recording stuff on my own, it's a lot harder and louder."

The other album will, as usual, be written and recorded by Segall on his own, and will be released via Drag City.

Of his previously reported collaboration with White Fence, titled Hair and also forthcoming from Drag City, Segall said, "It doesn't really sound like either one of us. It's kinda like starting a new band." He added, "It sounds a bit more drug influenced, a bit more psychedelic and weird."

The best thing about being a newbie on this forum is scrolling back through the pages of threads & discovering some awesome music. This thread takes the cake by a mile so far. Some cool stuff I hadn't heard & several mentions of my favorite all time band - fugazi.
Sorry if this is retreading old ground but I have to express my excitement , I have been in love with the band since I was introduced to them in the early 90's. They only ever toured my little backwater Australian city twice, the first was the night before a "big" high school exam in 93 and I couldn't travel there ( I grew up in the country ) In hindsight a fugazi show would have been so much more beneficial to my future than a stupid fucking exam ! I got to see them in around 94 & it was a religious experience. Still listen to them regularly and they still do it for me more than anyone.

Anyway, thanks for the cool new music... I will do my best to share some Aussie stuff that may be of interest to the people on this thread.

We don't get a lot of people contributing in here so retread or not happy to hear it! Honestly, the stuff I hear coming out of Australia these days is some of my favorites. Total Control would be the obvious one I guess but I freakin' love Henge Beat and the split they did with Thee Oh Sees. Bloody Hammer is another Aussie band I've mentioned in here and their album from last year absolutely shreds. Would love to hear more!

I enjoy this insight my friend just posted on facebook:
girls have it easy. if they want to be considered "punk" they just have to do their make up different and maybe get an extra piercing. if a guy wants to be a punk, he has to actually listen to punk music and have lots of punk-related arguments with the elders of the punk community.

Just finished scrolling through this forum and it was awesome!! Thank you to whoever posted about circle takes the square I had no idea they were still making music, and I have to say big fan of the ep. But has anyone seen them live because Ive heard they were terrible and I was just curious. As for my contributions: Fall of troy thomas erak is one of my favorite guitarists he is kind of an asshole on satge such as taking him self to seriously but the album doppelganger is just amazing. I went to their last show in sf at slims and have a fat scar in the on my forehead to always remember it. If you are a fan check out Erak's new band just like vinyl.

Also always was a fan of heavyheavylowlow they were always playing around san jose when I was in high school so I would always drop the three bucks to them. And my last is duck duck goose dont know what they are up to now but pretty sick band.

Some great stuff already posted but I'll try post some other stuff.

Conation. Fantastic late 90's/early 00's Australian hardcore

Cursive. Most of you probably already know them.

Snowing. Awesome twinkly stuff. Sucks they broke up.

    Monument. Similar to Snowing.

We Were Skeletons. Some of their stuff really sounds like Off Minor. Which is a good thing.

    Off Minor. Speaking of...

Anyone here ever listen to lowercase? I was reading something about Cloud Nothings and the critic was giving their body of work hyperbolic praise. I just listened to their first album and it's some pretty great, clangorous noise rock from the 90s. Well worth checking out.
