Let's go on a livin' spree!
UUuuggghhhh want. Such bad timing. Hurting here.
Im taking my bf to see them on Friday!! He doesn't really know them, just the little bit we've played together the past week or so. Im not putting any pressure on the show like "omg its gunna be the best show ever you're gunna love it!". Im confident they will impress him and we're going to have a fun chill time. Plus Sharon Jones and the dap kings!! That should be solid, I bet they come back out later.
Also, I'm sure we can both woof at Yim together
You saw The Cure. DIE!!!!!1!1!

Realize you have very unique expectations. Most of their fans really enjoy the songs you mentioned as being filler (or however you put it). Also, I'm thinking their was a curfew? Or many songs got cut due to tech difficulties.
Of the 3 I've seen, Santa Barbara takes the cake. But comparing MMJ shows is like comparing As to A+s. And fffffrrrrrreeeeee.
It was worth going for the version of Phone Went West tonight alone. I also thought the sound was great. When indoor venues get it right, there is nothing like it.
What is the song where the lyric mentions a "rolling stone" ? Can't think of it. That was my other favorite moment.

O yeah. SHARON JONES AND THE MOTHERFUCKING DAP KINGS. Best opener ever. Such a tight band.
Burwell is awesome. Metallics in this are CRAZY

True. War Begun was insanely good. The main set just didn't really have any teeth. Right when it started to get going it would come to a screeching halt. I did enjoy hearing the older songs I hadn't heard before.
But. Playing Holdin' on to Black Metal and Highly Suspicious...back to back...in the encore...and neglecting Dondante in LA yet again is just criminal.
But yeah, that '08 Greek show won't ever be topped for me.

I wish you could have been at the SB show...
The encore seemed based on having the horn section play with them. It added something to it, but the parts are so small sadly.
Aren't they suppose to close the outdoor this year at Coachella or some nonsense? Maybe that will pass up the Greek gig for you!
yep her band always bring the energy to the audience for sure! seen her bunch of times and never walked away from their set. she opened for prince @ msg last year as well....wish she was opening up for mmj @ msg instead of snooze band of horses......ah well can't complain about her 7 upcoming NY headlining shows! definitely going to one maybe two!
DECEMBER 6 Music Hall of Williamsburg Brooklyn, NY
DECEMBER 7 Music Hall of Williamsburg Brooklyn, NY
DECEMBER 8 Tarrytown Music Hall Tarrytown, NY
DECEMBER 9 The Oneonta Theatre Oneonta, NY
DECEMBER 10 The Westcott Theater Syracuse, NY
DECEMBER 13 Bowery Ballroom New York, NY
DECEMBER 14 Bowery Ballroom New York, NY
The show last night was awesome, but it was also my least favorite of the three. But hey, its hard to beat being on the rail in front of Jim at the Santa Barbara Bowl! But for free thanks to chris, and getting a sweet burwell poster and hearing them rock with sharon jones opening was awesome. Also, the strobe lights last night were very effective IMO.
