Thread: Shoes

What are good shoes to buy? I want something that will be comfortable for 3 days of standing and walking, but something that isn't too ugly to wear any day

people tend to make fun of me for this, but i always go barefoot. bring flip flops in my backback for bathroom usage, but they rest of the time i dig my toes into the earth. i have never had any problems, just be aware of where you are stepping.

I'm with coachellalove. barefoot during the day, sandals for bathroom + at night.

that said, whatever you do, do not wear *new* shoes. that's just asking to have your feet bleed.

I completely agree withe the barefoot/sandals for the bathroom recommendation; this has been my "footwear" of choice for the past 5 years and it's worked out quite well.

I've worn a pair of Nike memory foam flipflops every day that I've been to Coachella.

Also, while it's ok to go barefoot during the day, it's NEVER ok to go barefoot in the Sahara.

    goddamn hippies.

wear shoes. use insoles. i'd say socks are a good idea. maybe sprinkle some gold bond in there.

open toed shoes/barefoot+large groups of tightly packed people (wearing shoes) is just asking for broken toes.

    and then there's the puke...

I suggest sandals during the day and something more comfortable at night.

At night, even though it's blistering hot, the grass somehow gets wet/muddy. Have fun going through that in bare feet or sandals. And also, you don't wanna get stepped on by some dude in Timbalands at Kanye's show.

If your goal is to be up-front/very close to the stage the entire weekend, then yes, shoes would probably be a good idea. However, if you're content to simply enjoy the sets from afar you should be fine going barefoot or wearing sandals.

I've been stepped on a few times in the past and, while a bit painful for a moment or two, it was never really that bad (and certainly not bad enough to break a toe). Oh, and you won't step on puke (or any other discharged bodily fluid) if you simply look where you're going.

If you're planning to go barefoot, great, but you better have some shoes in your backpack. The walk from the parking lot to the event is not all soft grass. At night, when it's dark, you really can't see what you're stepping on either. Plus, as someone else mentioned, if you like being close to the stage, you'll want some shoes because people are packed in. Make sure your shoes are comfortable because getting blisters on day 1 will make days 2 and 3 miserable. I suggest athletic shoes.

Cross trainers are great, I went barefoot for alot of the festival but it gets annoying as the day goes on, SOOOOOO much trash on the ground especially after a set, people are disgusting

I've done ok with flip flops, even midway into the main stage crowd during the earlier evening sets, without getting my toes stomped. But yeah there is always that possibility so bring closed toed shoes if you are gonna be deep in any major crowds.

Like someone else said, the grass is lovely under the toes, but definitely watch where you put your bare feet. I stepped on a still lit cigarette butt during Travis at the main stage in 07 and it hurt like a mother for the rest of the day.

I'll be bringing flip flops again though, as well as a light slip on pair of tennies.

Flip flops and barefoot are great as long as you don't want to be up front. It's always good to feel the grass beneath your feet. Just be careful where you step

A pair of Toms is a good festival staple - comfy & stylish. Plus you help a child in need.

Make sure to break in sandals before your trip. If you try it at the festival you will be needing bandaids for blisters etc..

if you got a locker you can put alternate footwear in there.

I've worn fit flops the last few years -never had my toes stepped on in the crowd. They are not the most attractive-however they come in solid clors now. At my age-the feet have to be comfortable-its a long day for 3 days! I am always amazed at the girls who go for style over comfort.

You know how much support your own feet need, so bring shoes that you know you are going to be comfortable in and then bring a pair of flip flops or sandals as your back up.
