I think the thing I learned from this is that if Prince is playing multiple nights and you can only go to one show you should not choose the first one.
he did the piano jump last night as well. maybe he did that dance solo during Kiss to show off his new hip.
what a showman!
Dammit!! Now I really wish I went last night as well!
I'm trying to remind myself how happy I was at Monday's show and how it was totally worth it to...
extend my LA weekend and miss a day of work
pay for 2 more flights--one to Oakland and one home the next day
fly with double ear infections even though the LA ER doctor said not to
be 10 times as sick and hurt as I would've otherwise been
And I probably could've pulled it off if I hadn't starting reading this damn thread yesterday (and now even worse, today) and found out how horribly screwed we got on Monday. Are you fucking kidding having that huge of a chasm between one show and the two others? Jesus. And to top it all off, this show was supposed to make up for missing him at Coachella, something I've deeply regretted for 3 years.
Guess I'm headed to another Prince show as soon as possible?! I don't even know right now... Pretty bummed.
To be fair, Monday's show had:
Uptown, Raspberry Beret, Cream, COOL, U Got the Look, The Glamorous Life, Soul Sacrifice w/ Carlos Santana, Rude Boy (Rihanna cover), A Love Bizarre, Controversy, Purple Rain, Kiss, If I Was Your Girlfriend, Scandalous, Bambi as the highlights.
He rarely plays Bambi.

last night was fucking incredible! when everyone started to leave, we sat down only to let the rush go and just take it all in and snap a few more photos. then he came back out! that was so incredible!!
Yea Monday was pretty great. I think I had more fun on Monday, but Tuesday's set was way more upbeat.
Monday was by no means a bad show, I just felt like Thursday was far better.
I don't think I'd trade "Let's Go Crazy", "1999", "LRC", and "Corvette" for "Bambi" regardless of rarity.
That's like saying "yeah but he played BATDANCE!"
"All of you coachella 'regulars' have nasty boy pussies and itchy dick4's on your asses.
Why don't you all make like a tree and get chopped down and die. You all have been dreadfully mean to me.
I Hate you. All of you. None of you will ever get to see a womans chest meat or finger blast hott cougies like me.
Fuck you all. Consider this my resignation.
Fair the well, you elitest scumbags."
— Faxman75, who has clearly had enough
I totally would trade Little Red Corvette for Batdance. Actually "Trust" was the best song off that soundtrack. Fact.

ha, i love that rationalization.
i've seen him show up for a Lyrics Born show at the Indy. Santana lives here and is a walk-on whore.
(sorry, couldn't help myself)
but, seriously, where are those Fillmore dates already?!
Well, there's no shows booked Feb 26-Mar 2 and Mar 6-Mar 11

i would love to hear days of wild or the ride!!
any of these please:
and Jack U Off (couldn't find a vid for that one)
If you go to enough shows, there's a bunch of weird SF-based musicians that you'll run into. I've happened upon Tom Waits, Jello Biafra, Davey Havok (one of these things is not like the other), etc... at shows that made zero sense for them to be there (in my mind, at least).

i'm sorry, man. i know that came off totally bitchy, but it was more of a slam on Carlos than an attempt to squash your fun. hopefully he will show up at a little gig you are at sometime soon.
EDIT: adding to what Brad said....oddly enough Mike Patton showed up at a Kid Koala show (when he did The Slip stuff) at the Indy a little while back. Les Claypool is another that you'll likely encounter at some point.
