Prince playing Oakland next week

does anyone think they will be douchenozzles about umbrellas for tonite's show? the venue website DOES NOT list them as a prohibited item, but i've been fukked by some "discretionary" bullshit before.

any ideas? i mean, we're in the middle of a massive winter storm, you'd think they would get it, right?

I was stoked when the upgrade happened last night and went from upper deck to lower level, but at the same time pissed that the people sitting behind me said "it's common courtesy to sit down...", I stop dancing and turned around and said "It's a prince show, stand up...". Then the girl said under her breath "this is how fights start and people get stabbed"

I continued to stand and dance the whole show... This isn't an orchestra, it's prince...

Bring a cheap umbrella, if you have one, I guess. They were about as lax as Oracle can be for security, last night, so I doubt that you'll have a huge problem. There were no pat downs, so if you see them making a fuss, just hide it on your person.

Wow! Nice set list! I'm glad you got Take Me With U. Certain boardies were losing their shit at Roskilde when he played it. One of my favorite songs.

i really hope there is still a weekend date coming with a little bit of advance notice. i really would like to see one of these shows. that set list above is pretty sweet....and i've been drooling over all of the pics posted. lucky bastards.

funk out for sure. and, i take back whatever neg connotations i made previously about Larry Graham. that guy can fucking thump it! he was so awesome during the Sly medley. oh, and he didn't open. Prince came on at about 8:40 and started the party. even though i wasn't yet in my seat, i still preferred it. he ended (finally) at 11:40...fucking 3 hours (thereabouts...not subtracting the breaks, but whatevs).

highlights:
1) Prince brought a woman on stage to dance with him and he said, "she ain't Kim Kardashian!!" (and she brought it too!);
2) Prince's guitar playing. he really is one of the best and i really love hearing the influence Jimi has had on him (and the totally gold Strat.....want!);
3) Prince coming out in all gold, with shimmery gold platform boots. just awesome. the furry white boots in the 2nd encore was kind of funny/silly;
4) Prince playing the guitar with one hand and the piano with the other
5) the dance party on stage with like 20 fans during Cool
6) Sheila E, Sheila E, Sheila E....i love her. she played nearly the entire set and was on the drum kit for the final encore. she is just a remarkable musician. her drumming is so forceful and, just awesome. and the chemistry between her and Prince is heart-warming
7) Prince was in a fantastic mood right from the start = massive house party!

There is, and will always ever be, only one Prince!

I had sold my monday tickets last minute, as none of us could go. Wed didn't work, so thankfully a Thursday was added.

And don't worry, there will be more. He said last night, multiple times, that they'd be back real soon. I can bet a few club shows.

But, if he were to do a Warfield, would the prices be reasonable?

This was my first Prince show, and seriously, I will make sure it is not my last.

The vibe was incredible, gave me faith in going to concerts again. After going to so many lackluster shows, and leaving wondering why I paid for parking, why I drove all the way, waited through the opener, enough was enough.

Until last night.

The second Prince came out, I had forgotten about the 35$ parking, about the rush hour traffic in the rain, waiting in the rain in a button shirt for half an hour trying to get us tickets, everything was a blur when he came on stage.

For three hours, I had no work week, no school work, nothing. Nothing but incredible music, an incredible performer (believe the hype) and a crowd that was just as ecstatic or more than I. The people next to us kept having to sit down and fan themselves. You know shit's getting funky when you can't even stand properly

Thank you all for getting me out there to see this act, and thanks to Prince for making it worth seeing. It's refreshing to see an act this powerful, this entertaining, and just damn fun!
