their set last year was surprisingly underwhelming - and I went because I appreciated their EP at the time. maybe they're not a festival band? willing to give them another chance, but in no way did they earn back to back appearances last year... sleigh bells on the other hand, holy sweat fest, lose your shit performance, they are a festival band - not comparable.
vomit
I grew up on a farm. I have seen animals having sex in every position imaginable. Goat on chicken. Chicken on goat. Couple of chickens doing a goat, couple of pigs watching.- Dwight Schrute
I love this cover and I can actually understand the words. The song is pretty damn demented.

I'm still bummed I missed this set last year. I wouldnt miss them if they came back this year. I would prefer they put together another great album and come back to Coachella next year though.

if she was there i would watch her
I missed them at coachella, but saw their set at Outside Lands in SF. It was actually really good and the excitement was there throughout the set. I'm betting they're at coachella again for sure after the year they've had!
I have a friend that really despises these guys. He saw them at their Detroit Bar residency over a year ago (before Coachella 2011) and claims it was all prerecorded, etc. For perspective's sake his favorite music is "red dirt"/Oklahoma country (Cross Canadian Ragweed, Reckless Kelly, Jason Boland, etc). He also really likes Nirvana & Smashing Pumpkins. This is what he said on Facebook last night - I've never seen Foster the People live but I have a feeling he may be a little off-base:
"I will never let go of the fact that when I saw them live, A they had no energy and B their instruments were so clearly pre-recorded it pissed me off. I go to see live music because I want to see people play them, if I wanted to hear a pre-recorded (or mostly pre-recorded) I'd stay F*cking home and not waste my money."
Foster My Nut-Sack.
Father John Misty - Bottleneck - 1/10
Toro Y Moi - Granada - 2/21
Dirt Nasty - Riot Room - 3/16
Animal Collective & Dan Deacon - Midland - 3/21

Pitchfork 2010, 2011, 2012
Middle of the Map 2011, 2012, 2013
Does this song have that guy from Foster the People?
Does it have that girl from that song where they are with covered paint?
Does it have half of Duck Sauce?
Is it hipster ready?
Is it radio ready?
Wow! It looks like they did it again..
That synth is too polished sounding. Sounds like they got some big pop producers that know the "recipe for a hot song"
Edit: Nevermind, its just a converse song.
I love how wrong a lot of the early haters are
these d00ds are playing the WANGO TANGO lolz
I'm not a hater of Foster the People at all, it's just amazing how many times I saw them randomly before they hit it big. From all those times I saw them I would have never guessed that they would become famous. It's almost as if there is some god of fate that just randomly rolls the dice and then plucks a band from obscurity and thows them into sudden stardom.
I actually really like their album. Not sure where all the hate comes from. I guess I shouldn't expect anything less from this board.
Let's go on a livin' spree!
fosterz thez peoplez nextz yearz fridayz headlinerz
Bump. I'd like to see these guys play next year.. For such a breakout band with this kind of indie pop style, I'm kind of surprised they haven't already played.
They played in 2011
I liked Torches, but I really wouldn't want them to take up a sub-headliner spot from the other possible bands with new/upcoming releases (i.e Grizzly Bear, Franz Ferdinand, QOTSA, SSP, Bloc Party, etc.)
The band "Foster The People'' is a GREAT BAND! I'm picky when it comes to guy group bands or any band in general. But, these guys are PHENOMINAL! Their album, "Torches" is an AWESOME c.d.! All the songs are great. I absolutely LOVE them! They sound like "MGMT", & YES they do sound better than MGMT. Although, I do love MGMT as wellMark Foster, Pontius, & Cubbie Fink are brilliant!!
