Thread: foster the people?

    Default foster the people?

    I thought I knew a majority of the bands playing, but was reading through some music blog and found them,

    and they seem pretty interesting, what do you guys think?

    are these guys still pretty small or am I under a rock?

    Pumped Up Kicks has been pretty big on XM's alternative station. Helena's ok too... but yeah, they only have 3 songs released. Since their stuff sounds like it's been handled considerably in the studio, I could see them either being really cool or really crappy... but if they were Meh before according to you, Coachilla, maybe a bit more time in front of some crowds has helped them along...

    Since they're so heavily produced, however, I'm not sure the singer can sing at all.

    I'm not going to lie, I've been on track with them since before they got their new keyboardist, and personally can't stand them because of their vocals, but they got a new keyboardist after they did their recordings and this new guy knows what the fuck he's doing. He adds another element to their sound and instead of hating their set I was sort of impressed because of their new keyboardist. And yes, they can handle the live environment. They've been playing their asses off in the Southern California area in order to get it down these days. The show I saw was just about a month ago

    just saw them play their free cosmo shows in vegas and they were a ton of fun. lots of energy, especially the new keyboardist. their songs are incredibly catchy. even though i saw their 2 performances tonight and will be another set tomorrow, they're also on my list for coachella.

    Pumped Up Kicks gets played pretty heavy here. I would like to see them do it live; assume they will be early afternoon.

    They're awesome live! I was at the Cosmopolitan show too. It was a lot of fun, I wish I could have stayed to watch their next show.

    My 65-year-old uncle told me about this band. Either they're not that good, or I'm totally shamed for being less hip than my 65-year-old uncle.

    Discovering these guys thanks to some live vids from SXSW, and really liking what I've heard so far. Look forward to hopefully catching them in the afternoon on Sunday. They're also playing a show in downtown Sac in June that was only $11.50 so I swooped a ticket for that.

    This video would say otherwise.

    2013 = Coverchella

    2011 = Perfectchella

    They're just another Passion Pit or MGMT - they'll have their moment, they'll have a couple hits and then we'll all get sick of them.

    Pumped Up Kicks is one catchy ass song though.

    I'm listening to a radio in-studio session; stripped-down, acoustic with no effects. It's terrific. They are touring with a bigger band of course but I was shocked at what good singers they are. I'll post a link to the audio when it's online at The Current.

    They just jumped way up the list for me. Their show in Mpls tonight has been sold-out for awhile; Pumped Up Kicks is very popular here.

    I wouldn't exactly blame Foster the People on the late start. Ellie Goulding was scheduled to end at 5:40 and she may have gone 5 minutes over. When we came back at 6:50 (FTP's scheduled start time), Tinie Tempah was still playing (they were scheduled to finish at 6:30).

    By the time FTP started, the Gobi had about as many people standing around it as there were inside. I think lots were expecting to catch thier set and then move over to the National and Duran Duran, but the late start really Fucked that plan up. By the time they got to Pumped up Kicks, more than half the crowd had already left.
