Looking at the two Coachella sets I see nothing wrong with either one of them, it actually follows a perfect formula for a headlining slot at a popular music festival... Plug your new album, play a couple hits, a few more popular fan boy tracks and cash the fucking check. I have never really seen a band in a headlining slot simply play the hits all night, that would be pretty fucking obnoxious.

Dre and Snoop just did it and the whole crowd went fuckin apeshit all night. Obviously I know they're not dre and snoop, nor would I want them to be. But I never said hits all night, just a bit more balance would be nice.

Um, I was there both weekends and interacted with a bunch of people and a lot of the people I talked to said they were bored by the new stuff. Please don't pretend like I am the only one who feels this way. There is even a another thread about this exact topic in the lineup section. And again, I enjoyed the show quite a bit, and also appreciate the new material more after seeing it live, but I just think it's sad that the band totally dismisses a giant chunk of their older material when so many people like those songs. I totally understand that they are sick of those songs, but at the same time part of being a great entertainer is giving the crowd what they want. And yes, I know you got what you want, and I am happy for you, but a lot of people didn't. It's not like I expect them to play greatest hits every night, but throw the festivals a bone please. I really dont want to keep arguing about this, like I said, it's a dead horse at this point. I was just stating my opinion for the record. Move along...nothing to see here...

It (4/21) was a disappointing set with no momentum, no balls, no interaction (the crowd tried during Karma Police but was treated to a bemused look by Thom) and, in my opinion, not up to snuff for the biggest gig in the universe in 2012, the Saturday Night Closing Set At Coachella.

Nobody's asking for "Creep." Just a little more appreciation of the moment from the band.

Come on papi, you know mainstream hip hop is a completely different animal... they have no other option but to play the hits, I actually wish Dre would have canned the variety show on stage for a meaningful Dre set with more Chronic and 2001 tracks and of course more Doggystyle, but that's just me.

Right. And the Karma Police thing was the other way around - Thom encouraged the crowd to carry on singing once the song was done. In 06 when I saw them they closed the first encore with it, the crowd didn't stop singing whilst they were off stage and once they came back on they just started playing it again with the crowd. The Coachella crowd was barely trying.

Listened to KOL over and over and my conclusion, which is at odds with yours, is that is boring and ranks low in their overall catalogue. I am not alone.

You cannot convince me that their set the other night was their A-game. Please don't condescend with the pyrotechnics references, either. I saw so many bands this weekend, sans lasers and fire and "make some noise," that brought it song after song and made everyone happy because you know they were trying to entertain.

Radiohead didn't do this.
