Fitter. Happier. More productive...
I just think EIIRP and Karma Police should get dropped for equally big "hits". Then both weekend goers can have something to complain about and the boards will never let us forget it. Watch the world burn. Except for ods.. and supre, who can be happy forever and kiss on their cloud.
Fuck 300+ girl. You need to make a move on her supre at the next gig. Don't let her über-supre be fandom intimidating. She can be your radiohead ticket sugamomma for life.
Show 6 for me and I thought they were flat footed for most of it. Setlist didn't help.
I was hanging out by the relay towers and a good 10,000 people went home early. Quite the opposite to the next night with everyone staying for DRE and a slow walk out of there.
The biggest annoyance for me was RH/GV thinking that the same light show used for a few thousand would work in a crowd potentially 10x the size. A dozen or so basic screensavers that were no different that what you could see in the Sahara any day of the festival at 3pm. Virtually no usuable real time live footage made the connection without the festival crowd even worse. Why webcast it to hundreds of thousands but make the band invisible to anyone beyond the soundboard? Have they ever done a major festival appearance before without screens?
Anyone else disappointed with the set length? Didn't Bonnaroo get a show 45 minutes longer?
On a side note, I bumped into both Colin and Clive walking around seperately on Saturday. I gave a tiny nod and they both were recognized by absolutely nobody. Colin was near the mainstage soundboard 2-3 hours before they were due onstage.
June 22 - Deafheaven
June 28 - Sasha
July 3 - Weedeater
July 26 - The Sword
July 27 - Black Sabbath
August 16 - My Bloody Valentine
October 4-6 - ACL
October 5 - Queens of the Stone Age
November 5 - Nine Inch Nails
November 8-10 - FFF Fest
November 15 - Nine Inch Nails
November 16 - Nine Inch Nails
Feel free to pick apart.
Explain to me why a band that probably got paid upwards of $7mil for both weekends thought they'd turn off the side screens(only time in their career at a festival mainstage?) and have a light show weaker than anything in the Sahara in the afternoon was appropriate?
We'll see what they do with the setlist in a couple days.
I wouldn't expect much to change in the set list department.
Damn though, Radiohead sure loves Mexico.

Hey, dummies, their average set list (according to setlist.fm) contains 41% new material. That stat doesn't accurately portray an average show, but I'm guessing you'll see between 35 and 40% new material each show. At Coachella, they played 35% new material. That's the same percentage that they played at the Glendale show. Why all the bitching about new material now?
And this statement...
...is one of the reasons why people don't like Radiohead fans. You can apply this to every song that you think was great and just say "Sure Radiohead was great...but they're great every night." It's the same type of thinking.
My only complaint about the coachella show was the crowd. I found myself to be the only one singing along besides the one chick behind me who actually recognized the after the gold rush intro ( which was absolutely amazing and my favorite intro so far for EIIRP ). Each of the three shows I've seen on this tour have been equally special ( Houston, San Jose, and coachella ) Houston I was 20 ft from the stage, San Jose's set list and coachella being with all my friends. As far as visuals go, I thought the nice twist they did for paranoid android was pretty nice. Where they projected Thom on the LED beams, maybe it was the Lucy, but that shit blew me away. My friends who aren't the biggest fans loved the show. They got a better understanding to why I feel they are the best band ever to grace this universe. I really couldnt have asked for more out of the three shows I've been too. Still wouldn't mind seeing them again. Hopefully I can make a trip out to Toronto in June.

bumblebee and others having this conversation, museradio's comment that was dug up was in reference to the Santa Barbara show which easily had the most KoL era material played at with all 8 tracks. daily mail, suppercollider, staircase, and twisted words. If you include identikit thats 13 of a 23 song set being new material. And based off my conversation with tallguy Chris about the sb show last night, THAT'S something to be disappointed in. That's the extreme of the situation.
Coachella Glendale San Jose all had a proper mix in the setlist considering they are in support of KoL. Don't watch them if you don't like that album I guess. They were playing all of I'm rainbows in 08. And sure the Coachella setlist was shorter but still an hour 50 min festival set at Coachella is damn good. I also had no problem with side screens and liked that they just used radiohead's production. But I was close so bias I suppose.
I'm not fixings grammatical errors cus fuck you bee boy.
The side screen were at the same height during Bon Iver and were being used. Maybe even during the shins as well.
they didn't use side screens because they are radiohead and carbon footprint and they give no fucks.

Yeah I think the wind played no factor. Traditional shots of the band with those side screens wouldn't fit with the aesthetic they were going for. If they were able to work it in though it would have been nice.
It was only really windy on Friday, the fact they didn't put the screens back in the normal spot til the headliner on Sunday was kinda ridiculous. They put the ones at the outdoor back up later Friday when the wind died down, and stayed in place the rest of the weekend.
I was indeed disappointed by this. It made my Black Keys experience somewhat terrible. Luckily they raised them for Dre/Snoop or I wouldn't have seen shit.
