Camping & "Legal Guardian" question.

Well I have my ticket, and my cousin and his friends have a camp site, but the problem is Im under 18. I know the rule is now you have to be 18+ w/ ID to camp, or have your legal guardian there. I was wondering if my cousin could be my legal guardian there, if we both had signed consent from our parents or something. This isnt my only option for sleeping, but it certainly is the most convenient and desirable.

Some states have processes for temporary guardianship. It may be possible in your state (try Google), but it's certainly more than a signed letter from your parents.

I don't know what is weirder...that they had to put a large section in the FAQ defining legal guardianship, or that the person who it actually applies to didn't bother to read it.

I think you misunderstand the "legal" part of legal guardian. You can't just designate anyone you want as your guardian, you have to go through the process with the court in whatever state you live.

All of these suggestions, or you can just walk in like seventy five thousand people did last year and never got asked for an ID, I saw what looked like a fifteen year old kid get searched in the tent camping entrance and let through without so much as a "How old are you?".

You have to have it processed through a court. I work with a friend last year about this. Golden Voice said court documents only.

honestly dude, just borrow an I.D. of a friend that looks like you. Thats what I did last year when I was 17. When we got to the camping thing they didn't even ask to see it anyway. So thats some good advice/incite for ya.

make sure to have body paint all over you. that way they'll never guess that you're under 18. plus, it looks super cool!
