What's the story behind that plane crash gif Mr. Nipples posted?

I believe that is the crash of a B-52 at an air base in Spokane, Washington, from a few years ago. If I recall correctly, they were training for an air show. I don't remember what caused the crash. Those B-52's are awfully old, though.

that b-52 crash is called "the jack-knife heard around the world". I forgot the pilots name but he was notoriously dangerous and did maneuvers with a b-52 that would only be attempted by small jets( he once flew a b-52 over a hill top clearing it by only several feet, this is on film). the usaf was warned by dozens of other pilots about his dangerous flying style, but nothing was ever done. While preparing for an airshow, he did a few runs with his b-52 and decided to do a jack-knife near the end of the runway. he did so but the plane stalled about 200 feet over and fell to the ground killing everyone on board. the worst thing about that footage is that his family was the one that was filming the whole thing...no the worse thing about this is 4 days after this crash happened, a crazed marine walked into the on grounds hospital with an m-16 and killed a few kids in the childrens wing.
