Yes, you are correct. Now they need to go away for a few years.

Radiohead didn't headline Coachella during their In Rainbows tour. I think Coachella would have them return after two more albums (assuming that's when 5-6 years have passed).

I'd say Dead Sara in less than 5 years.

I think Underworld is up there. They are currently working on the opening ceremonies for the 2012 Olympics. So.... Yeah....

If EDM continues to become bigger in the mainstream eye, there will come a point where they will have to have their first electronic headliner if they plan on booking certain level acts, depending on the egos involved. For example, there is no way they could ever invite Deadmau5 back at his current popularity without him at least being the first subheadliner for the day and playing on the main stage. What happens if he gets bigger over the next few years? I bet they'd want to save that honor for Daft Punk, but depending on the Sahara direction and the mainstream success of EDM, it might be somebody else.

deadmau5 could easily be the first subheadliner on his day, but not a headliner.

nah, after his disastrous set last year I think golden voice wouldn't book skrillex very high, no matter his "critical acclaim". so many people (especially OF fans waiting for him to leave) were booing so hard, it was actually one of the few memorably BAD sets of coachella history that I know of. (another of course being Steve Aoki)

Yeah, sorry guys, but Skrillex will be no lower than second line in either 2013 or 2014.

Right now. I'm curious to see what will happen with EDM and the mainstream over the next few years.

I caught the tail end of Skrillex's set to see Odd Future (who were abysmally bad themselves). I have never seen the Sahara that packed during the early day (which is depressing when you think that The Twelves, who put on one of the best Sahara sets last year, had maybe a third of the tent full, but I digress). I saw none of the booing you speak of. I saw a lot of happy teens and bros. I don't think GV will have any issues inviting him back if that's what the kidz want. I can't stand Skrillex, but I don't think anybody would be shocked if he is one of the highest billed names in the Sahara next year.

He will 100% be billed at least 2nd line within the next 2-3 years, with next year a high probability.

They're running out of quality hip hop headliners, they're going to turn to EDM. Which is really more symbolic than anything since EDM artists have "closed" the main stage before.

From this year, a couple that stand out to me would be Bon Iver and Florence and the Machine.

I wouldn't give Florence five years to be a headliner. I see it happening in two really, whenever the next album comes out and it doesn't completely ruin her career

Within 5 years I think these bands have the POTENTIAL to headline... Phoenix, Florence & The Machine, Miike Snow, La Roux, The XX, Mumford & Sons, Cage The Elephant, Two Door Cinema Club, Gotye, The Weeknd, The National, Arctic Monkeys, Silversun Pickups, The Avett Brothers, Temper Trap.

I think Arctic Monkeys have plateaued. Excluding the National most of the groups after Cage the Elephant seem like big long shots

I could see Mumford as an option for Friday 2013 paired with an EDM act. In fact, they might end up being the "obvious" headliner.

Based on response for Florence + the Machine got, I'd be shocked if she wasn't in the mix whenever her third album comes out.
Karen O - Masonic Lodge at Hollywood Forever Cemetary, Sept. 18
Slowdive - Theatre at Ace Hotel, Nov. 8
First Aid Kit - Wiltern, Nov. 12
Coachella - Empire Polo Field, April 17-19

    I concur with these:
    Bon Iver
    M83
    Fleet Foxes
    Grizzly Bear
    Phoenix
    Silversun Pickups
    Vampire Weekend
    Mumford and Sons

    Also:
    Danger Mouse (& Guests)

Looking ahead five years, these bands have potential:
    Deerhunter
    the Clientele
    Plants And Animals
    Megafaun
    Metronomy
    the Clientele
    Other Lives
    Voxhaul Broadcast
    the War on Drugs

Hey, if Kings of Leon and the Black Keys can do it, so could many of these bands.

If I don't see an LCD reunion at the very least as a sub at any point in my life, I'd be pretty disappointed. They have to...right?

God, Skrillex as a headliner makes me cringe... I wouldn't doubt if he subheadlined though...

    OUTKAST 2014

Röyksopp, FC Kahuna, Télépopmusik, The Knife, RJD2, Futue Sound of London, The Avalanches, 808 State, Zero 7, Tycho, Mr. Scruff

    LCD Soundsystem sub-headlined in 2010.

Disagree. I don't think Gotye is a long shot, at all. I think it's pretty likely at some point.

Agreed, but let's be honest. There are a lot of acts listed there that will never sniff a headlining spot at Coachella.
10/8 - Little Dragon @ Marquee (Tempe, AZ)
10/11 - Carolina Chocolate Drops @ Rialto Theater (Tucson, AZ)
11/10 - The Black Keys @ US Airways Center (Phoenix, AZ)
    4/10/15 - 4/12/15 - Coachella
