They also did a tour where they revisited their old stuff cool but doesn't make them headliner worthy in 2011 or beyond. As for KOL I went to one of their shows to see my friends band open and left as soon as they were done. I have never liked them and this was in 2006 before the fuss about them.

I don't think Weezer SHOULD headline, just that GV has it in them to do a lot worse.

I saw them at Coachella 2001. I'm pretty sure they were way more popular then than they are now, and they still weren't headlining then. The Main was like Weezer->Oakenfold->Jane's Addiction, I think.

Yeah that was at the height of their popularity because all the old fans from the 90s were in on it then they sucked in the little kids with "Island in the Sun" and other songs from the "Green Album" but its also why they will never be able to headline. They are washed up and a parody of themselves now.

Oakenfold was on the Main Stage before Jane's? Wow, I must have missed that.

They would have to lower ticket prices if they let them headline in that sad state of affairs. You couldn't pay me to sit through that.

Why the fuck are you guys even talking about Weezer?

THE WHOLE POINT OF THE THREAD IS TO MENTION BANDS THAT WILL BE BIG ENOUGH TO HEADLINE IN FIVE YEARS, NOT BANDS THAT ARE ALREADY HEADLINER STATUS OR PAST THEIR PRIME.

The whole point is that it was ludicrous for someone to bring them up as a choice. Read the thread. Its called a discussion. People partake in them, have a opinions, agree to disagree. You might want to try it sometime!!!

No, he is right. People are either A) clearly ignoring the purpose of the thread, B) trolling or C) Have very serious reading comprehension issues. If any topic could be discussed in any thread, there would be no reason for individual threads.

You make valid points Rage Patton but I am defending the fact that I was actually defending those points of view you were using by interjecting why would someone even suggest Weezer as a headliner.

Arcade Fire was in the fourth line in 2005.

I've seen the Black Key go up slowly but surely. I'm sure that with a new good album or two they could hold a spot.

Kasabian was pretty low in 2005 and lately they've been getting good spots in other festivals.

I'm sure next year or two we might see Weezer holding a spot
Yeah this is where it started lol

Lol. Yeah, it was my fault.

But here's why I brought it up: They just did did a respectable sized tour including two shows at the GibsonAmph at around 90 bucks per ticket). Right now they could bring some good revenue as headliners, plus it seems that goldevoice has been using that formula for the past three years with the Killers, Muse and KoL.

As we see in past 2 years the headliners of the future are as follow:

30 Seconds to mars (KOL, Muse )
    Kasabian (ARCADE, Gorillaz...)
    Lil Wayne (Kanye, JayZ...)

30 second bullshit is never playing Coachella. Get outta here with dropping Muse in there.
Kasabian is cool but sub headliner at best in America, probably forever.
I can see Weezy happening. And the board would rage for years.

If Franz Ferdinand's next album is as strong as #1 & #3 I think they would be genuinely bumped to headliner status.

Sadly I think their moment is passed but the singer needs to get his girlfriends band Fiery Furnaces to play.

bookings like Lady Gaga and Li'l Wayne would actually do more to keep me at home than take me to Coachella.
