I would be hugely surprised if Two Door Cinema Club's momentum lasts longer than that of The Thrills or The Coronas, or any of the other J1 bands I can think of. One or two decent albums and lots of small scale tours off the back of them, but I can't imagine them ever being huge.

yea, I wasn't saying Cremations sounds like Origins of Symmetry, just that the CC sound is raw and exciting similar to Muse in 99.

Crystal Method are not up and comers, they've been around for a while and won't ever headline. They are past their prime and if they ever did have headlining potential, they would've headlined by now.

The Chemical Brothers are pretty much the same group but from the UK. Around the same ages and the Brothers actually came out with an album first. So same could be said about the Brothers. I DONT think CM are past their prime, but currently riding the wave of there prime. The tour in support of Divided by Night WAS SICK! Gave my friend an epileptic siezure it was so awesome. As for TTT just said it cuz its a hot topic well see.

Electronic music just needs another surge in popularity in order for CM to headline. Plus a fresh album.

They're gathering quite a bit of steam this side of the water - although they would, being relatively local - and there's a suggestion they're going to carry on in Mumford & Sons trajectory.

I keep saying it, whomever it is, must be someone with HUGE crossover success (except Arcade Fire). Look at all the headliners they've had. If they are English/Euro, then they have had long careers (DM, Cure, Macca, Roger Waters, Bjork) so you'd need to go with someone who is already "big enough". Other English acts - Oasis and Coldplay are/were the biggest international artist at that time. Most of the headliners are American, and have had huge CROSSOVER success. Name a band now that you can say that about that is 5 years away. Its hard. They will have to have a HUGE album approx. 1-2 years before to make the jump in 5 years. It will also have to be commercial. Vampire Weekend (whom I like) don't make that kind of music, so they would have to change their sound completely. If not then you have to once again go with the established artist - RHCP, Beasties, Jay Z, Kanye...

Let's take a look at lineups from 4-6 years ago and see where recent headliners were at that time.

In 2004 the Killers were at the bottom line and Muse was in the fifth line.
Arcade Fire was in the fourth line in 2005.

I've seen the Black Key go up slowly but surely. I'm sure that with a new good album or two they could hold a spot.

Kasabian was pretty low in 2005 and lately they've been getting good spots in other festivals.

I'm sure next year or two we might see Weezer holding a spot

How so they haven't put out anything remotely good since the Green Album and that is pushing it. They were good in the 90s but will never have the kind of status to headline Coachella ever again. Maybe support and second line and that is a maybe!

I don't know what's more depressing: people seriously guessing acts that clearly have no chance in hell of ever achieving headliner status, or the awfulness of the listed acts that actually have a chance of doing it someday.
