Who Has Headliner Potential in 5 Years?

Coachella has seen a shift in terms of headliners. It looks like they're catering to the younger generation (see the past two years). In 5-10 years, who do you see conceivably headlining?

Perhaps Vampire Weekend with a stronger effort?
The xx depending on if they expand their sound?
As much as I don't want this to happen but Drake could be a future hip-hop headliner?

Just want ya'll takes on this

I like this idea! But i shudder at the thought of vampire weekend headlining anything really. It'd be great to see Cold War Kids make the jump

The National doesn't do it for me but they seem to appeal to just about everyone.

if their next record is like the first one only better and more of a success, then MGMT probably

Florence + Machine i can see in a couple records, V-Weekend too, phoenix, black keys - these all seem realistic to me.

Vampire Weekend isn't a bad call either.
Maybe The Decemberists.

outside of that, I can't think of any other current/newer acts that I could see headlining someday.

It sounds like O.A.R. trying to molest Justin Bieber and Maroon 5 with John Mayer at bedside looking on. Totally slick, overproduced, at the most 4 good songs. Nathan's voice sounds like it was run through pro-tools and sprinkled with auto-tune for good measure. Nothing raw, primal, and beautiful like on the first two albums. No "St. John's or "Welcome to the Occupations" Its aimed at top 40 and the Bonnaroo crowd.

MIA is one of the worst live acts. EVER. I'd rather see Crystal Castles. The only act who i've had the misfortune of seeing who is worse than MIA is Steve Aoki.

The Black Keys, The National, and probably LCD Soundsystem are each one big album away from being headliners. Modest Mouse, too, though you could make an argument that they're already headliner status.

For their success I hope so but for us who still get to enjoy small Ghostland shows I really hope not. I think the last album stifled a lot of attention. Hopefully the next will get better. The light show certainly has.

Agreed. I've covered 3 major U.S. festivals for the past 4 years. Every time she plays I have to get some coverage and every time I leave pissed off. It's like going to a 90s-early 00 rap show where some jackass keeps playing sound effects over and over while someone sings off key and out of rhythm.

i agree about their small shows, but i saw them sub-headline at ACL '09 and it was incredibly fun with a large crowd.

Yeah, it would suck, but they wouldn't be as bad as Kings of Leon or Jack Johnson.
