First, I want to say I already bought my tickets. That being said I think next year they should sell passes like Comic-Con where only the registered name and photo id can pick up the passes and they are non-transferable.
Problem solved, no scalper conspiracies, no dumb threads, no bitching.

I wouldn't mind seeing a Big Day Out like system. Sell tickets the general public. Once those sell out, have a second round that are only available via lottery. Small number, like 5,000. At least some people that totally missed the boat would have a fighting chance.

At least it's not the full out lottery system like Glasto.

True, but vastly less of the tickets will go to scalpers. This is a good thing.

I think the best approach is for GV to consider using a nationally recognized, perhaps even monopolistic, ticket sales and distribution company that is capable of handling large numbers of ticket orders in exchange for an exhorbitant fee.

They do it every year at Comic-Con, not a big deal like you make it out to be. I'd rather wait for this than the bullshit that happened last year on Friday, when I waited in line for 3 hours just to get smashed through a gate and let in without even getting my ticket scanned.

Hold on, I just mentioned that they should implement this idea to resolve all the talks of scalpers. I do not support the scalper theory, just want to clarify that. I find it hard to believe scalpers scooped up all the tickets. I think the line up just had enough of something for everyone, along with artists with huge fan bases that it sold out in record time. Plus you know the whole layway thing if you didn't do that your just dumb.

Lollapalooza requires everybody to go to a series of booths to scan their ticket and get a wristband. Last year there were maybe 10 booths and we waited about 15 minutes, it was not a big deal at all. Don't scan 'em in line to get in, scan 'em in line to pick up the wristband, that way folks can pick up the wristband at their leisure instead of cramming into the line to get in.

I do like the fact that they're mailing them this year, and it seems to be a good solution. Signature required, no more than 6 per household... what more do you want?

Besides, if you require folks to haul ass to Indio to get their passes, you're completely screwing those folks who legitimately need to sell their tickets. Last year I had a bad case of the flu hit Thursday before the show... I still went, but I can imagine a great many situations where you just can't use the pass, and driving all the way to Indio to attempt to scalp them at the concert anyhow just seems stupid.

I believe the CC has you register because it's non-transferable (?).
At least that what I thought when I registered last year. Also, this years registration has crashed twice!
