I highly doubt Arcade Fire is going to play for two hours
It is much more likely that they get a 90 minute set like Muse had last year
Paul Tollett stated one of the main reasons they got tjhe extended curfew was to give headliners ample time, so they don't have Prince/Cure/McCartney type scenario. Jay-Z was scheduled to start at 10:50 last year and he played about an hour an half. This gave people the chance to see some of either PIL, Fever Ray or Deadmau5 after Jay-Z ended, and it gave other the chance to leave a bit early and get a head start on the traffic. Of course Arcade Fire will not play for 2 hours. They will probably play 90 minutes. But if they schedule Arcade Fire for 11:30 and they have technical problems and go on 20 minutes late, then GV will face fines. So, in other words, it makes sense to schedule Arcade Fire for 11 and not 11:30.
headliners don't always play til the very end, goer. check previous years' times.
Good points
I stand corrected
Ok, so billing changed a bit on Saturday. Basically, Erykah Badu switched with Suede. I think this makes sense. As a result, here is a new schedule...
Mainstage:
Arcade Fire: 11:00-?
Animal Collective 9:10-10:10
Bright Eyes: 7:55-8:45
Erykah Badu: 6:40-7:30
Broken Social Scene: 5:25-6:15
Outdoor Theatre:
Empire of The Sun: 11:30-?
Mumford and Sons: 10:05-10:55
Big Audio Dynamite: 8:50-9:40
The Kills: 7:35-8:25
Suede: 6:20-7:10
I think this works quite well, especially considering the new billing. Also, this gets Erykah Badu out of a tent. As a replacement, I think The New Pornographers in the mojave would work.
Oh joy. Choose between watching Mumford & Sons (one must-see) or getting a good spot with my friends for Arcade Fire (the other). Boo.
Oh, that's what I'll be doing. I'll just be sad having to make that choice.
I think we need to look more closely at the clue dorkfish has given us about Shpongle. He keeps saying that it will be at night, and since the dude's set up is that bizarre Etienne like cube thing, I'm thinking this means he will be closing the Sahara. I know Swedish House Mafia said that Axwell/Angello are "closing out" the dance tent, but I don't think that is set in stone for Saturday. I also sort of think that the Sahara might only have 9 acts in it on Saturday. With really long set times for some of the names.
5/25-5/27: MOVEMENT DETROIT
6/6: The Field @ The Independent
6/26: Colin Stetson @ The Chapel
Only reason I think it may be tough for Simon to close the Gobi is that the set up takes a while. If just DJs are playing before him a la Etienne, it's easier to just unveil the structure.

It's not just a DJ set. It's the Shpongle presents the Shpongletron Experience if you look at the Line-Up section of the mainpage. Which is this:

I did my own mock up schedule for Saturday with potential set times. I really think there will be only 9 in the Sahara. Assuming you all come around and agree with me that Shpongle will be in there, this is what I think it could look like: (Also...there may be adds to Saturday's Sahara line-up. I've heard Rusko may be added.)
Sahara
12:00 - 1:30: Joachim Garraud
1:30 - 2:45: The Twelves
2:45 - 4:00: Daedelus
4:00 - 5:15: Chuckie
5:15 - 6:45: Laidback Luke
6:45 - 8:00: Fedde Le Grand
8:00 - 9:30: Paul Van Dyk
9:30 - 11:10: Steve Angello
11:30 : Shpongle
I won't bother to put my other stages up here because they differ pretty wildly from Clumsy's.
5/25-5/27: MOVEMENT DETROIT
6/6: The Field @ The Independent
6/26: Colin Stetson @ The Chapel
guedita, i dont understand the super long sets though. especially with such a packed schedule. thats why I included SS, as a guess. because they are the only other act i could see in the Sahara and there isn't room anywhere else for them.
so you think EE and Daedelus will be at PF? (i'd assume Daedelus would, but he wasnt on the list of PF acts, right?)
Yeah, when I did my mock up schedule though I had 9 on the main, 10 on the outdoor, 11 in the Gobi and Mojave, and 9 in the Sahara. And it all fit.
I don't know anything about EE but I didn't think they were a Sahara act. And Daedelus will not be on the Pure Filth stage. Maybe on in the Gobi? I just don't really know with that one. I just emphatically feel like the Scissor Sisters will not be in the Sahara this year. I see them closing out the Mojave a la Devo last year.

Ok, why can't Erykah Badu be earlier in the day on the Outdoor stage? Like in Raphael Saadiq's spot? Sunny Day Real Estate played pretty early in the day, didn't they? I just don't want her to conflict with Animal Collective, basically.
No way Suede is in a tent.
Don't up and coming hip-hop, soul, R&B groups usually play the Gobi if they aren't outside? Just seems to be that way from memory. I don't mean that's all that plays on that stage, but it seems like they are in there more often than in the Mojave. I think even Mariachi El Bronx could, but I still think they'll be Main openers. Foals need to go in the Mojave.

Perhaps Suede will go a little earlier in the mojave then?[/QUOTE]
That would make sense
Maybe Suede would play in the mojave during mumford and sons set?
I wasn't referring to them. I was just asking a general question.
everyone seems to be saying Bright Eyes on the mainstage.... any chance we get an outdoor theater set?
This ain't no middle of the mall shit.
