Cell phone/iPhone reception?

So for the past few years, as many of you know, reception has been horrible. I know they've increased the amounts of portable towers but last year it seemed to make no difference.

Does Goldenvoice have any plans to fix this, or for that matter is it even possible to fix this?

probably not... it's been an issue every year. It usually works ok in the early afternoon, but any later there's just too many people.

Make plans to meet up at certain landmarks at certain times, or there's a good chance you'll lose your group.

Its much easier if you just hold hands with your group the entire day/night. You move as one. Like a people snake.

sprint had great reception for me. and wifi worked.

I have Sprint and it was just as bad last year as the year before.......if I lose people I just don't plan on seeing them until I wander back to camp.

any good alternatives to cell phones? walkie talkies are just a pain in the arse unfortunately.

maybe i could get a pay to go phone on some random carrier.

depends on the phone as well, although in the last 3 coachellas (2007/8/10) and 3 different phones, i've been fine. i usually get friends' VM or they dont get my SMSs until hours later. but that's on their end.

coincidently, those with metroPCS seemed to have better reception too.

yes. i dressed up as a taco last year and my friend dressed up as a hot dog. you couldnt miss us, and we couldnt miss each other. dress up as a bottle of mustard or something.

This is probably one of the most annoying things a group of people can possibly do in a crowd. I seriously broke up three or four human chains last year because the assholes that do this seperate people from their groups.

This is so frustrating. Just walk near each other, keep an eye out for your group. Don't be rude and break up every other group. Have determined meeting points ahead of time. Be considerate.

i had fun watching people play red rover with the human chains during LCD soundsystem last year. also watched a girl get clotheslined that looked extremely painful.
