Depending on the line-up, i'll probably be back again this year. We had a blast last year. I like the venue, and HARD usually does a good job putting together a decent line-up. More stages = More conflicts....that is the only downside to expanding.

I think I payed $60 last year, I thought the park was a good location... parking was inexpensive and easy to find. What don't you like about it?

I was there for FYF, and it was like having a concert in a dirty, dusty ghetto.
Onsite food vendors were gouging like crazy for incredibly crappy pizza.
The whole experience was so gross I wouldn't go back there for any reason.

For Hard summer last year, dust didn't seem to be an issue...everything was grassy and nice. The vendor situation was bad though, they had like 6-7 food trucks, all of which had at least an hr wait and were definitely over priced. If I were to go back, I would just eat before I got there and after I left.

Last year's line-up didn't interest me much, but 2011 has potential.
10/21 Jessie Ware @ The Chapel
10/24 Little Dragon @ the Fox Theatre
10/24 Rfs Du Sol @ The Mezzanine
10/29 PHISH @ Bill Graham Civic Auditorium
    10/31 AlunaGeorge @ 1015 (?)
02/07 London Grammar @ the Fox Theatre
    03/01 Caribou @ The Fillmore (?)

Onsite food vendors at HARD were the best I've seen at ANY music event.

This was such a piece of shit event. The djs pretty much all sucked, the visuals were crap, and the sound was cheap. Soulwax made it almost worth attending though. I get the feeling gary is going to book another act that i wont want to miss and ill end up going again and upset that i spent that much money again.

The food vendors at decomp 09 were better, that was some of the best truck food ive eaten.

@CrimesceneCookie you can't even compare the two. FYF are great at doing small shows at grungy venues, but they had NO IDEA how to run a festival. I don't think Sean Carlsson has ever even attended Coachella.

FYF; There was no lighting anywhere, the sound was weak, most of the bands sucked, and I think I spent a combined 6 hours in the lines for beer, food, bathrooms, and water.

HARD: Tickets were 50, the place was beautiful, sound and stage were superb, and they brought SOULWAX. will go again. 18+ is a bonus this year

I live within walking distance, so parking was a non issue. Fuck, I'll probably go to FYF anyway, too, just because ... we'll see who's on the bill.

QFT, Probably the most boring massive I went to last year. I am pretty much 100% over Hard events.

You definitely cannot compare Hard to FYF. Hard was run overall pretty smoothly. Yes the production was cheap, but I had a blast and Green Velvet killed it. FYF on the other hand was probably one of the worst thrown events ever and all of the promoters deserve a fucking roundhouse in the mouth. My wife passed out from waiting in line an hour for a hot 4 dollar water.

    Hard events are not raves.

I had an alright time. The beer garden was fucking bullshit. You stand in line to get ID check w/ bracelet. Then you go to another long fucking line to get into the beer garden which was small as all hell. Then as you exit the beer gardens repeat process. FUCK THAT!

Also wasn't too happy with the army of drug dogs and narcotic officers that were there. What can you expect after the disaster we now know as EDC 2010.

i don't think this was true for FYF. 7seconds, cold cave, local natives, ceremony, the soft pack, off!, delorean, best coast, !!!, titus andronicus, wavves just to name a few that i remember.

but back to hard, this festival will be a fail, at least at this location. interested to see what kind of lineup gary brings though.

EDC is a full blown fucking rave and has been for more than a decade. All Insomniac events are raves.

Hard is not. Hard is a hipster electro / dubstep happy place.

EDC may be the worst of the worst, but Hard Summer was still a rave. The crowd may be a little better, but there are still tons of rave assholes.

    EDC was a clusterfuck

Hard Summer was well organized and not overcrowded, the sound was pretty weak at the smaller stage (especially during Proxy and Digitalism), but the venue overall was well done. Better than being cramped in doors at the Shrine or Forum (!!), and being outside on the grass was sorta of a mini-chella

I dunno why people were expecting lazers, lightshows and big production when Hard has never really done this

I can forgive the lack of light production, but the sound was pretty weak at both stages.
