What the 2011 Festival Map MIGHT look like

8 Football fields of new Festival space, an additional entrance, an additional stage (Pure Filth, rumored to be by the Sahara), Lake El Dorado Camping, No RV lot, no volunteers.

Taking a Satellite Map and superimposing the 2010 Festival Map, this is what I cam up with as a possibility of what the grounds might look like.

Yeah - the 'new space' is the only logical place for the '8 football fields of new space' referred to by PT. Also confirmed by the Pure Filth folks as being 'former stables behind the Gobi and Sahara'.

Hopefully there is a new entrance on Monroe. Since I'm staying at Indian Palms CC that would cut a good distance off my walk to the fest.

there was an entrance on monroe last year, via the handicapped parking lot. you ended up entering between the gobi and mojave tents.

The entrance you put off of Monroe makes no sense to me. My guess would be a VIP only entrance into the rose garden area.

If the placement of the Gobi/New stage is correct then Yay more sound bleed for the outdoor!!!

i highly doubt that is where the new space is. in years past that area has been a production area and since getting to it would involve cutting off the main production road around the venue i really don't think it would work there.

look where the stables are, which has already been mentioned. the area between lot 8 and the sahara. it really is the only feasible place that would work based on the rest of the actual venue.

I thought I read in another thread they are not tearing down the stables, and are instead refurbishing them. Though putting the PT stage directly across the Sahara (I guess behind the beer garden?) would be great.

From a festival planning perspective it might be simpler to keep the perimeter the same and add space "internally".

THIS WAS THE SHIT. Go steal some lazy fat asses handicap placard and party it up with me and the crew in the parking lot. This entrance, plus in and out, was perfect for grabbing beer from the coolerand smoking blunts without the fear of security(perfectly within CA law to medicate in your vehicle with the keys out of the ignition) and best part you can still hear the music.

Yeah, I think the new space is where those stables are WEST of the Sahara (like mentioned in articles)....but the way you have it would be cool as well. By the looks of all that, there really doesn't seem to be much day parking does there?

I hadn't hears about the stable rumor until that link (and I stopped following that thread a while ago), but that makes more sense to me as well. That map does not include the parking that is north of 50th Ave. I'll try to redo it tomorrow making that assumption.

Theoretically they need less day parking with the shuttles. That's another bonus in addition to reducing traffic congestion, which is both aggravating and really polluting.
