This sentiment is the reason you have not seen the American government take any direct actions. The relationship between Egypt and Israel/United States will come up soon. You know how intoxicating it is to rage in Tahrir after 31 years of having to keep your mouth shut? Opposition is considering how they will publicly discuss revisiting those relationships. They have to be careful or risk splintering this pan-Egyptian feeling of unity.

Like it or not, the Obama administration has a very fine line to walk here. As Aurgasm suggested, you can bet that they are in constant communication with opposition leaders and potential opposition leaders. What they say publicly and what the diplomatic forces are saying and doing privately are probably like night and day here.

Besides which, it's not in our benefit (nor in the Egyptian people's benefit) to give even a whiff of a suggestion that this uprising is being orchestrated by the US. This moment belongs to the Egyptian people. It's in their hands now and it's not for the US government or the media or anyone else to tell them what to do.
