buying on craigslist

i was wondering if anyone had tips about ways to secure a transaction for ticket (car camping in my case) on craigslist

i responded to an ad and made an agreement but it seems too risky to fork over money to someone i don't know and just hope hes honest and ill get the ticket in a month and change

advice? paypal?something like it?

a.) Do not buy it until he physical has the ticket
b.) make him present ALL proof he has (receipt ect)
c.) Meet him in a public place. Pay for the ticket with PAYPAL when he is sitting across from you/giving you the ticket. DO NOT PAY CASH.

Even ticketmaster tickets are forged these days. A real ticketmaster ticket will have a blue tint to it when held up to a light. It will also turn black when heat is applied. In the LA area there is a mexican woman that is known to sell fake TM tickets over CL. The phenomenon that just happened will bring out the worst people. They can also call ticketmaster and say they have lost their ticket and most of the time ticketmaster will reprint it and cancel the original. This is all uncharted territory though with the new Coachella rules. Not sure if reprinted camping passes will happen. Either way the price is so high I wouldn't risk CL. Ebay has more protection but you're competing with the world on bidding. CL is at least local but very sketchy on tickets

CL is very scary for big ticket items (which this is).

My order of preference
a.) Someone I know personally who needs to get rid of a ticket
b.) Stubhub
c.) Ebay
d.) other stubhub like site




z.) CL. Basically you have to be willing to lose ALL the money you pay and not be able to go to Coachella. If you are willing to take that risk than go for it.

Any smart seller would never let you do that. Since there will be no tracking # you can say you never got the tickets and get the money back

Craigslist is the absolute worst place to buy a ticket. I'd say a lot will be fakes and trust me they all look really legit if they are printed out correctly..

Buy from somewhere with "protection" as others have stated.. Prices may be higher but places like stubhub and ebay at least offer you some insurance that what you're buying is MOST LIKELY legit.. But even than there's the slight chance you may be buying a fake!

Yeah, Craigslist can be sketchy. The two tickets I got last year for $500 looked legit, but I was so worried they wouldn't get me in. Turns out the girl handing out wristbands never even scanned them, so they could have been fakes and still worked!

I bet many with fakes get in. They don't pay them ticket takers, do you really think they care if they're fake or not?

ask the craigslist guys to put their tickets on stubhub. pay their seller's fee as well and if they're legit, they'll do it.
