So, um ... what exactly were the festival promoters supposed to do differently?

I mean, I understand the anti-scalper rage, although I think it's overblown, and a relatively small percentage of tickets ended up in their hands. But, be that as it may ... what did the promoters do wrong?

They offered a product for sale.

People came running from far and wide to buy it.

They ran out.

Seems like a perfectly normal chain of eventses.

The only type of people I have compassion for are ones that were in my position (I happened to get lucky late). I had saved money for Coachella within two months of the end of last year's festival. Unfortunately my wife had a medical issue and has been out of work since November. She was getting paid disability by Metlife through January 2nd but have yet to extend her claim past that date. I had to unexpectedly use my savings on bills and thought I was SOL until I was saved this morning.

That being said, I wasn't about to come bitch about it if I didn't get a pass in time. I was going to check the ticket section of this message board and stub hub religiously.

Personally, Coachella is my Mecca. The more people the better of an experience. If there are more people it gives a much more surreal experience. I just truly hope that I can find a 3 day pass this year. I'm in such a bad place because I ended up with a trailer, but couldn't buy tickets. Ugh. A message to everyone that is attacking the people who didn't/coudn't buy tickets in time, give us a break. Don't give us such a bad time.

Personally I think it's bullshit that all of you are talking shit about people who weren't able to buy their tickets on time. Not everyone has $330 on the drop of a hat to spend on a festival pass. No one knew that it would sell out THIS quickly, and some people really need quite a bit of time to save up the cash for something like this. Not everyone plans on purchasing their tickets before the lineup is announced. You should all be ashamed of yourselves, you elitist pigs. Have a bit of compassion, for Christs sake.
