Coachella has taken roughly a week to sell out and its less than two hours from the second biggest metropolitan area in the country. Last year it took months. Years before only specific single days sold out and only a couple of times.

I know what he meant. I'm just not sure what he expected. I haven't even been going to Coachella for very long compared to a lot of people on here, but just since I have been going, the festival has grown so much, from switching to three days, to new camping options, expansion, new stages, new methods to purchase tickets, shuttle options. Then you look at what happened last year, how could you not see this coming?

When I first started going to Coachella, almost no one I knew had ever even heard of it, and now everyone knows about it. This didn't happen overnight. I can say with confidence that the lineup alone did not sell Coachella out this year, but rather the thousands and thousands of people telling all of their friends and family, "You've gotta go, it's incredible." I know I've been telling everyone I know about coachella for six years now. Is it crazy to assume that every coachella newbie has been doing the same thing? No. I always thought that Coachella would eventually become a Glastonbury-like situation as far as ticket sales go, although I will admit I didn't think it would happen this soon. Goldenvoice has done an amazing job over the years and they deserve this kind of success, and it irritates me when people say things like "Oh, Coachella is mainstream now, I'm not going anymore."
