Melodic/mellow dubstep?

Hey, I by no means can claim to be a dubstep fan or expert. Every now and then a song comes along from the genre that I really love, but I'm noticing a trend that it is usually heavily melodic, pretty and mellow as opposed to the harder stuff. Good example:



If this isn't "real" dubstep or is commercial dubstep or whatever, then I guess I am not a real fan. But I'd still want to get some other songs/artists like this (and anything that'd end up at Coachella this year is just an added plus). School me.

Oh wow, you guys rock, gonna start digging into these. My apologies if I Need Air isn't dubstep. Dubstep/drum n bass/jungle/etc are not genres I profess to know anything about and I'll admit I often peg artists/tracks as the wrong one.

Seriously though - for amazing mellow tracks I highly suggest Clubroot, Burial, Mala, Kryptic Minds, and Vaccine.

For really mellow/minimal stuff: ASC, Instra:mental, and Seba.

dunno who said zeds dead was "chill dub". they're as brosteppy as it gets. they play every week at wrongbar (used to be in the basement @ 751) and when I stopped going like six months ago, it was because they hadn't gone one week in about a year wihout dropping sweet shop.

edit: I really like Breakage's material but I'm watching some vids from Audiotistic and am remembering how much I didn't like his set. That must be why he isn't a must-see for me. I will definitely check him out, but if it's anything like Audiotistic then I won't stay long.

Mala would be great but it doesn't look like he's on the lineup anymore unfortunately. I think SBTRKT and Ramadanman are gonna be a little on the faster/heavier side when it comes to Coachella but both are definitely worth checking out.
