I would just like to thank Ryan for recording this set. You did a terrific job and I am glad I get to relive it a little bit. This was one of my favorite concerts ever. The vibe in the venue was just electric. I can't fucking wait for round 2 or 3 with you guys.
im keeping my fingers crossed for a refreshed setlist when they come around for coachella. the show at the bowl was spectacular but i really hope that having toured their new material pretty extensively they might open up more room in the set for old material and not rehash the same live set. while i loved the stuff from 'further,' it seemed like they frontloaded their set with these tracks (except escape velocity) to get them out of the way and the set realllly picked up after that and got super heavy. hearing those tracks live was cool and all but they could have done more to change them up or integrate them better with the classics. either way this is gonna melt some bodies
Thanks guys! It makes me happy that you guys enjoy the videos. I fucking looooove them.
I think this one is my favorite:
I'm so looking forward to this in the Sahara. It's going to be sexy.
Then I usually have to watch the next one too because.....

I only got to hear the smallest snippet of "Setting Sun," I'd love to hear that one unleashed in all it's glory.
It is taking all my willpower to not watch these videos. I want to be completely blown away when I see them, and I'm afraid these videos will ruin the surprise for me...
"It-t doesn't mat-ter."
BOOM-BOOM-BOOM-BOOM
There is a b-side out there of Setting Sun Live (at Lowlands '97 apparently) that is radical. I think that's when I first thought "Wow, these guys would be great to see live!"![]()
It began in Afrikaaaa-ka-ka-ka-ka
The Sahara is in Africa![]()
It's a Chems dayyyyy.
FOUR TET. HOT CHIP. SIMIAN MOBILE DISCO. BOOKA SHADE. LEE SCRATCH PERRY. BEACH HOUSE.
Richie Hawtin. James Blake. Loco Dice.
Thanks for the videos Ryan, I'm having flashbacks of the fox show...
I'm not the biggest CB fan in the world, but my wife LOVES them, so we went to that Fox show. I have to admit, they were really good. I wasn't expecting much after seeing their DJ set in 09 (was it 09?). But their "live" show is definitely bad ass for even people that don't much care for this type of music. I'm really hoping there isn't a Black Keys conflict.
There's a recording of this? Link? I remember them suddenly stoping their set and everyone thinking curfew got them. There was literally about an eighth of the crowd left when they started their encore. We ran from the front gates back to the fields ourselves...we were far enough that we saw the lights but couldn't hear the sound. Ridiculous. Ran back like cheetahs at the zoo!
...
All these videos are making me anxious! Private Psychadelic reel is so fucking amazing, I can't wait to see what this setup looks like!
5/15: THE WALL, Phoenix
5/19: Spiritualized, Crescent Ballroom
6/2: Mogwai, Music Box LA
6/19 Jesus and Mary Chain, House of Blues, VEGAS
who says the chem bros dj set sucks? I remember when they dropped sunglasses at night (popof remix 1) I went fucking apeshit! Either way I'm sooo fucking stoked for the chem bros live.. Hollywood bowl was epic but ending at 10 was fucking weak. I'm hoping for them to close out the sahara, more production, and hopefully this year's tent will be larger

Saw them during the Push the Button tour. Was blown away. The light show and production will be great. Not really feeling the last 2 albums though
Just on the youtubes.

Gotta say, I'm more excited for the Chem Bro's than virtually any other act on the poster. That vid posted by earlgrey says it all. What an amazing encore!!

i too, loved their coachella dj set back in 09. even to the point that I re-created parts of it, so i could listen to their mashups at high volumes (with the bass booming).
I am also trying to stay away from their new tour videos, because I want to have O face the entire set.
