Pretty much any full performance of the current tour format will top the Fox.
Agreed, their setlist as it stands right now = the Chems at their prime. The only thing I sorta disagree with is the new thing where they open with Another World and layer the Galvanize vocals over Leave Home later on in the set, mostly just because their live version of Galvanize is such a fucking belter.

Well, if you've never seen them before, and have wanted to see them for a while, it was kind of amazing albeit shortened....
We're here to play some Mississippi Delta Blues. We're in a horrible depression, and I gotta admit - we're starting to like it.

I don't understand how seeing them previously would some how make it okay.

    It's the fucking Chemical Brothers.

    On the main stage.

    At Coachella.

Even if I had seen them 1000 times in the past. My love for the brothers does not allow half assed sets. Especially when it's not in their style to play a set like that. You know how I know I'm right? They're pissed too.

What exactly are you arguing over? You're making it sound as if it was their fault.

It wasn't their fault. That's what makes it even more painful. Knowing absolutely nothing about the intimate details of what really happened, I firmly believe that it could have and should have been avoided.

so do you think it should've been in the sahara?

    October 23 - 26 - Housecore Horror Festival
    October 29 - The Melvins
November 7-9 - Fun Fun Fun Fest
    November 18 - Slayer
    November 19 - eyehategod
    January 31 - Mayhem/Watain

I'm not going to lie. I do think it should have been in the Sahara. But, if it was going to be on the main stage, they should have been top of the bill and kings of leon should have understood their place in the pecking order. As a bonus, they probably could have saved money by not paying a headliner fee.

Was Kings of Leon really that big of the draw for the festival to sell out the way it did? I don't think so. Coachella was going to sell out anyways. It's so insanely popular that they had to add a second weekend! Therefore, I don't think its unreasonable to have the chemical brothers at the top of the bill. They don't have to worry about appeasing to a wide demographic to sell the most tickets. So they could have done more. Whatever it takes to get the chemical brothers the proper set that they deserve.

Transferring the sound from a full live band to DJ equipment or vise versa is obviously one of the most difficult feat for the technicians to pull off. I've seen countless shows delayed because of this I'm assuming this is what happened at Coachella. The chems have a shit ton of equipment, and whoever was plugging everything in wasn't able to handle the task at hand. The Sahara would have been a clean transfer, fuck they could have had Sasha end with escape velocity and transition to the chems during the fucking song.

This would've been absolutely ridiculous. Not only were they trying to get the audio set up, they were try to fix the screens too (which never happened). That's inexcusable, somebody better have lost their job.

I think they did they best they could given the situation they were put in. A half-assed Chems set is still better than most artists and I really do believe that.

The Main stage is probably my least favorite stage.

The mainstage sound was fucking crisp.

But I still wanted it in the Sahara. Where I was, the crowd was kinda meh - and it was where the crowd should have been fucking insane. (20 feet from the rail, dead center)

GV are professionals, they (should) know how to work these stage transitions out.

Yeah, the sound was fine. The short set/crowd/technical problems is what disappointed me.

I wasn't talking about the sound quality, I was talking about the 45 min delay setting that sound quality up.

As much as that night still pains me, hearing their clean, crisp, wonderfully organic sound on the main stage was awesome. Best sounds I've ever heard in a live setting, but obviously I would have preferred a full set in the Sahara to a 3/4 set on the main.

It sucks, but it happened. No use dwelling on what could have been........even if the clear cut call was to not invite KoL in the first place and have the Strokes play their timeslot

I see your point, I was referring to how I had never seen them before and have wanted to see them for years and how their shortened set was still an amazing sound + visual spectacle.

in this case though, if KoL were to get that billing they wouldn't have played. I mean if you were KoL would you just take the low ass billing when its your turn to headline? I would have been totally fine with that but that weekend still had to be a commercial success, unfortunately.

But just cut off Kings of Leon. Tell them before their slot that they must be done by the certain specified time no exceptions. They aren't fucking Paul McCartney. It should have been done, and been that easy.

Look at all of you stage managing/audio interfacing experts. You guys should get jobs in the fields you are so clearly knowledgeable and versed in.

None of us are claiming to be knowledgeable or experts in this. The musical act in discussion was late and suffered some technical difficulties and a shorter set on the mainstage, and KoL's set presumably played a role in that. Thus we're voicing our opinion that it could have/should have been in the Sahara.

GV are knowledgeable and experts in these things; we don't expect things to be perfect, but its fully reasonable to have some expectations from them.

It appears otherwise, reading through some of these comments. Also, there is no way that crowd would have fit into the Sahara comfortably.

Sometimes electronics don't work. Oh well.

I'm not sure who you are talking about but, like what betao said, "we should be able to have some expectations."

Sometimes electronics don't work.... that is true. But, that point is really irrelevant. If Kings of Leon had gotten off stage in the appropriate time frame, and chemical brothers had all the time they were scheduled to have to get ready and it still wasn't working, oh well. But, that isn't what happened.

And, you might have missed it, but I'm not claiming to be an expert in any of this...

All I'm saying is, I think that it could have been avoided. As far as I'm concerned there is no excuse for what happened. Maybe there is for you and that's cool but I expect more.

I would like to think that they could have put the Chems on at the same time as KoL and maybe another "big" name to thin the crowds out.

Maybe that was impossible, but it's just an idea.

It's easy, just invite them back, and give them a full guaranteed 90 min set. I'll shut up about the 2011 set if that happens, I promise.

Yeah, but there is also no way that the entire crowd that stuck around at the main stage after KoL or meandered over there from other stages would have gone to the Sahara.
