YES! And I have ALL of his albums, and it's hard to collect them, trust me.
This should be a pretty cool set to check out.
didnt think he'd go to coachie. but after he got listed onto sxsw, there was hope. i wonder what new material he'll have on showcase. same group lineup; omar, juan, deantoni, lars, marcel?
i'd figure he would be over un escorpion by then? and having other new tunes.
as unlikely as it is, i'd love to see Frusciante join him for this performance, esp. given that they released 2 albums online last year & John is ostensibly not doing anything right now...
every day, every year
So excited to finally see his solo work. This is icing on the cake for me.
"It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge"
Maybe Cedric will pop his head in and they'll do a TMV tune.
i've got a feeling his set is either gonna be a wankfest or psychedelicambient pedal fun
not sure if youre familiar with the coma (as theres another thread about this over there) but there was a mention on how it may, or may not, be "el grupo nuevo" with him. just have to wait and see. seeing the "el grupo.." lineup make its first public appearance would be nice, it guarantees cedric and zach hill. either way, even if omar decided to do an acoustic solo set, im there.
atencion!
so.. where should I start with his solo stuff?
July 12 - Portugal. The Man - Witern
July 24 - Postal Service - Greek
Aug 9 - Grizzly Bear - Hollywood Forever
Sept 22 - M83 - Hollywood Bowl
This is gonna get way rad. I have to say, that this year has the weirdest coefficient of lame headliners vs quality, well curated experimental music.
1 Coachella before I got sober, 7 since. I support both versions. If you wanna do the sober version, roll with us:

also the one with the asian writing i believe are some of the recordings from the videos in the OP
Edit: i believe its どういたしまして
I saw them at the Troubadour last year and it was an incredible show, the band really enjoyed themselves and were really on that night. I loved the addition of vocals of Ximena, very good addition to his band. I released a podcast with a ton of Omar stuff that was approved by Sargent House, definitely check it out if you don't know where to start and are wondering if you want to check out the music of Omar Rodriguez lopez live at Coachella. If you have heard the mans music and you enjoy, check it out anyways.

Omar is gonna put on an AMAZING show! I saw him perform his solo stuff a few months ago at the Troubadour in Hollywood and I was blown away. I've been an avid TMV follower forever, hence the name <----(RapidFireTollBooth). With Cedric having Vocals on most of Omar's solo work you can count on seeing him on the polo fields!
Omar Sampler of all kinds of his "solo" work (with all of his incarnations besides TMV) being released on Record Store Day. $19 for a 37-track double CD. Awesome!!! I really want the deluxe vinyl box set, but need to save for Coachella.

looking foward to see Omar.
Definitely looking forward to Omar's set. Seen TMV live, and they were amazing...I except Omar to put on a hell of a set. For the ones that are not familiar with his work, I would suggest: A Manual Dexterity, Calibration, Cryptomnesia, and Xenophanes.
