I'm not judging OFWGKTA as a whole, but my friend recommended French and Bastard by Tyler the Creator. First of all, I was just not impressed. Second was the overly misogynistic lyrics. "Black bitches mad cuz my main bitch vanilla?" As a black woman (and a self-respecting woman in general) I wouldn't be caught dead in a crowd while he was rapping this trash, and not because I really care that he likes white women.
Then there is the fact that dudes in this thread say that they will grow out of rapping about rape. Yeah or they'll just be encouraged to keep rapping about it once they see that their fans encourage/find it acceptable. Just my two cents!

While Bastard is my favorite OF album now, I would never recommend that to someone first. I remember hearing it in early 2010 and not really liking it all that much. It wasn't until I saw the Earl video later on and listened to the EARL album that I really got into them. BLACKENEDWHITE is probably the most accessible OF release, and the Radical mixtape offers a little bit of everything.
Swagadelic, swagadocious, swaggerrific, swaggots.

GolfWang-- Thanks for your many posts. Much appreciated. I've learned a ton about these kids from you and am working my way through several of their releases/mixtapes.
I just finished EARL and I am impressed. For a kid who's what, 16-17 years old, he's better than 3/4 of the MC's out there today. His story/background makes him all the more interesting. I hope things work out for him and he finds the right place to develop his talent, because I can already see it in this album alone.
OFWGKTA on Jimmy Fallon Feb. 16th.

Yes, it's true.

they're saying its just Tyler and Hodgy, i wonder what song they're gonna play...do they have a song they can play on network TV?
WHAAAAT?!?!?! Odd Future on national television is going to blow my mind... and with the Roots backing?! swag.
I'd guess they are doing Sandwitches also, but how the fuck do you edit that song for TV so it still works? Censored Odd Future songs are so pointless... might as well just play the instrumental.
Fuck this is crazy though. Maybe they'll do a new song?
I don't know! But i have been dying to find out. Must be unreleased... sounded tight as fuck though.
I can't remember exactly. Tyler had a video explaining what happened on his old bloxhead youtube account but it has since been removed (or I just can't find it).
I hope these guys get big enough to warrant some GLAAD backlash...
Mike G aka The King Mike G
Mike G was a big fan of Odd Future for a while before being asked by Tyler to join the group sometime in 2009. Mike is a also a big fan of the chop/screw southern sound. His first album, Ali is pretty mehhh, but there are a few standouts. However, every track I've heard him on since then has been greatly improved. He also has the least amount of stage presence of anybody in the group, but he's slowly getting better at that as well. He's got a really great voice, and he's just now coming in to his own and learning how to use it to his advantage. He reminds me of Snoop just a bit, with the smooth voice and all.
The best examples of this are his choruses and his verse (3rd verse) on MellowHype's "Loaded":
Here's Mike rapping over Dre's "Kush" beat:
And here he is rapping over Mos Def's "The Panties" beat:
His new album Gold is due out March 18th, supposedly being primarily produced by Syd.
Everything That's Yours is one of my fave OFWGKTA songs. God that shit is so fresh.
Hodgy confirms "Sandwitches" will be performed on Fallon:

He also confirms a February 11th release date for Tyler's next video, "Yonkers":

Also, Tyler says Goblin will come out in April... hopefully before Coachella. It has already been pushed back 4 months though.

That's a problem. It's also something with Hip Hop/Rap in general these days. MC's overly cussing without any meaning or reason. I tend to think after the first 1-2, it just means they lack a decent vocabulary. If you don't have Eminem's cadence and ability to bend words, a thesaurus is a cheap alternative.
Then again, maybe I've been listening to too many mixtapes lately..
"Haha At People Thinking Earl is In Bootcamp."
tyler just posted that about an hour ago from his twitter so idk what's really up with earl
if you want learn more about the mind of this genius motherfucka, follow him or however that works
^He's probably just trying to fuck with people.

I'm getting the impression that all future releases will not be put on their website for free but instead to be only purchased from iTunes?
^^Goblin will be sold on iTunes for sure. There will be hardcopies too apparently. Not sure about other upcoming releases.
