It wasn't too aggro down front where I was, though I did see the sandals fly through the air. I think they came off a guy who was crowdsurfing a little closer to the center of the stage.

It was a killer set, though. A definite highlight of the weekend for me.

So does everyone agree that this was one of the rowdiest sets ever at Coachella?


Personally, it's kinda scary being in the 2nd row and having all that going on around you. It gets to a point where you just couldn't enjoy their set yesterday albeit they were fucking on it. But it's bullshit everything was so low for them.

Personally, it's kinda scary being in the 2nd row and having all that going on around you. It gets to a point where you just couldn't enjoy their set yesterday albeit they were fucking on it. But it's bullshit everything was so low for them.

I had some friends who were waiting up close to see the strokes and had no idea of what to expect when it came to DFA 1979. They were girls in sandals and I heard their toes were bleeding after the set was over.

This brings me to two Coachella lesson.

1. Do your research
2. Don't wear sandals without the expectation of being stepped on or make sure your bring some shoes to change into for when you wanna be in the thick of things.

Edit: Fuck yes. They needed to make ears bleed!

I listened to the band before Coachella and still was not expecting it to get rowdy. The crowd was way crazier than the music I was hearing (maybe this has to due with the low volume). It just didn't match.

I definitely would have been out of there if I was wearing sandals.

Yeah. It's a stretch to ask someone to research how crowds get at their shows. But if you heard of the SXSW incident then you should expect rowdiness.

There was one song toward the end that made everyone want to crowd surf. There were about 10 people around my head! Arms are sore.

One of the best sets of the weekend. Crowd surfed so i wouldnt have to push all the back. It was pretty tough to get back energy for the rest of sunday.

Great set. I bet there was lots of fingering of butts going on in that wild crowd. The security folks did an awesome job of catching the body surfers.

Which reminded me of something quite unrelated - that attention whore old woman with the rainbow colored hair who is always in VIP, posing for cameras, and is as ugly as my unshaven butt - someone threw a full bottle of piss at her (the piss stayed in the bottle) just before or after DFA came on. That was incredibly awesome.

I was front row. Fortunately I have a belly so I bounced right off the rail when pushed. It was THE MOST FUN set I experienced at Coachella 2011. It was my favorite set of Sunday.

I was in the pit to the left. It was the most fucking fun I had all weekend. Still sore. It was a very conscientious pit; I got knocked down and all I had to do was stick my arms up and someone pulled me up right away. I did get that fat crowd surfer to the head though. Ow. Amazingly my dress stayed on and I didn't lose a shoe. Fucking awesome.

I don't doubt it at all. There were girls crying because they couldn't get out of the crowd or it was just too out of hand and they were getting banged up pretty bad.
Definitely scary to be caught up in it all. Especially since I wear glasses and had some important things in my pockets the last thing I wanted was to lose any of my stuff.

I got to Nas about 35 till he went on and pushed to the front for this show. Did anyone help that girl who broke her foot less than 10minutes in get out? That shit was crazy. I had to block all these bro's in the crowd from crushing her more. A couple of us finally got her out of there and right after I said, ok she's fucking gone, let's do this! Laughs ensued and I got hit from behind by another surfer.

Also I threw my sweat filled cap towards the left side of the stage crowd.

It seems that it was only a few feet that separated the chaos from the calm. I was near the back of the front stage section and everyone was dancing with room to spare. Only the pizza slice and a few glimpses at the tops of heads moving around quickly was any indication of the storm. It was a blast.
