Zach Hill would be incredible. I'd say there's actually a possibility of him playing - he wouldn't be too radical an act for Coachella.
His last album was awesome. He deserves a spot this year.
Yeah I can't see Quik being too relevant with the Coachella crowd, but the Quik/Kurupt collab album seemed to do alright with the hipsters/pitchfork at least. Plus it would be pretty amazing. Really hoping Quik is still doing his Key Club shows by the time I get over to the US in April.
I really can't see The-Dream or Wacka Flocka playing, they seem like too much of a risk for Coachella, but who knows....
Will be extremely happy if Actress/Mount Kimbie/Shed or John Roberts play but I swear Coachella have quite terrible taste when it comes to dance/electronic acts (Boys Noize/Steve Aioki/Bloody Beetroots/Benny Bennasi/The Proxy etc.) I rarely see much cool underground dance acts on the bill.
I'm gonna add Jean Luc Ponty into the list also as a result of my current Psych/Prog phase.
Oh and I must also add the analog synth master Tomita to the list also.
Too many people on the message boards would complain about how black people are going to steal all their stuff
What do you mean by relevant? Sly Stone (bad example?) is far from relevant, but he already put in his stripes and he is still welcome to play at Coachella. I dont see why the same cant be done for Quik.
Sure Dj Quik isnt cranking out tunes right now, but he still mixes albums for a lot of relevant artists (not just hip-hop artists at that). Not only that but he still does production, and Quik production is the best production in hip-hop IMO. If he did play, I have no doubt he would get a great crowd and a great vibe going. He is a perfect hip-hop artists for Coachella.
Did Warren G play in 2009 as a surprise cameo in one of the tents. They opened with Regulators...I was told this on the ride home from another Coachella goer after the weekend. I did not see it, but heard about it! Too bad I missed that one- heard it brought down the house!
To second your motion on Tears for Fears too! that would be unlikely, but awesome
Uggh I missed Tears for Fears here in Vegas at Green Valley Ranch cause I was on house arrest. God damn that sucked.
I feel sorry for whoever missed Murder City Devils. That was one of my favorite Chella performances.
Dre, Quik, and Daz are pretty much the artists responsible for establishing what became westcoast hip-hop. Dre gets all the credit, but thats just because Quik and Daz were more of "behind the scenes" kind of people. Quiks has produced and still produces for tons of people in the rap scene, from 2pac too Young Joc.
If you listened to Quiks raps, he always talked about how he tries to avoid fame and being in the spotlight.
Edit: Also, being part of the original Deathrow family makes you as established as anyone else in my book.
London Elektricity performing billion dollar gravy.
i know Tony Colman still dj's under the name london elektricity but it would be intense to see the full band back together again. live DNB = amazing.
Well, now that Lightning Bolt have most likely been added, I suppose we can add another beloved weirdo band to this thread in the "proof that experimental music shows up sometimes" column.

So good going back through this thread and seeing that not only has Snoop been added as a headliner, but that we did get Zack Hill AND Jeff Mangum this year. And we got Mount Kimbie last year (who someone told me would never play Coachella). And...Tim Hecker was added to Pitchfork in Chicago for 2012, so maybe things aren't as bleak for dark ambient as I thought when I started this thread...
