"Wild Mood Swings" is the underdog (or is it black sheep?) album, early in my cure career that was one of the first ones I bought on my own so it just kinda stuck with me. And in the great tradition of the cure having epic album openers, this ones no different:
one of my favorite robert smith quotes, and only from a few years ago!!

Plainsong is srsly one of the best album openers of all time.
Well if we're going to do this, then why stop at 5? For their full length releases:
1. One Hundred Years - Pornography
2. In Between Days - The Head on the Door
3. Shake Dog Shake - The Top
4. Plainsong - Disintegration
5. The Kiss - Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me
6. Want - Wild Mood Swings
7. 10:15 Saturday Night - Three Imaginary Boys
8. Open - Wish
9. The Holy Hour - Faith
10. Out of This World - Bloodflowers
11. A Reflection - Seventeen Seconds
12. Underneath the Stars - 4:13 Dream
13. Lost - The Cure
Edited: what's nuts is that only one of those (Lost) isn't a great song.
And live videos of my top three:
First UK live TV performance - they were supposed to do something poppy (I think "Let's Go to Bed"?) and played One Hundred Years instead.
Top of the Pops:
In Orange (short hair Robert!!)
Edited: I know Top of the Pops is lip synched but I picked it for Robert's adorable and awkward dancing

Seriously, how fucking good is Join the Dots?
Where's Underworld and Mew? Make it happen GV.
gaa theres too much to comment on!
As far as album openers go, this is the one to beat (next to Plainsong of course). The jam intro is out of control with those psychedelic guitars. And the lyrics....one of my favorites. Its just so ANGRY and passionate. I get chills when Robert screams
Get your fucking voice out of my head!
I never wanted this. Never wanted any of this
I WISH YOU WERE DEAD
I WISH YOU WERE DEAD
KM KM KM has become my favorite cure album.

Weird, just listening to that actually. It's funny to hear him talk about the time around making Kiss Me... as he's said it was one of the happiest experiences he's had, because it's such an angry record. It's so much more full of venom collectively than what he's done before or since.
All I Want is such a great fucking track off that record. The live version reminds me of Siamese Twins done live as they both transcend into these massive, almost anthemic love songs and it throws me off every time.
are you kidding? Happy? Could have fooled me. Everything you say about the album is true and its why I love it, plus its mixed in with some awesome catchier pop tracks too.
Funny, All I Want is my favorite on the album next to The Kiss and Torture. Would kill to see it live, there have been points where I cant even finish cuz it gets me feeling....emotional.
Primus sucks! Aw i wish i was going with yall. have one on me

I had 3rd row for the San Diego show for this tour. They all wore white tees and I remember The Glove & Jimi Hendrix being played very loud as the pre-warm up music. Geez!! I wished I was a teenager again still working at the record shop that allowed us to pull tickets from Ticketmaster!
At Coachella 2004, I was laying right near the video game tent (Y'all remember the air conditioned video game tent?) listening to Air and some dude came directly up to me and asked if I wanted to buy a backstage wristband. I asked how much, and he responded $10. I was skeptical, but he let me put the wristband on and then walked me backstage before I paid him. I got right up onto the main stage and stayed in the wings for The Cure's set. They were my favorite band at the time, and it was pretty goddamn incredible to see them for the first time on the same stage where they were performing.
In fact, I don't think I've ever been further than 50 yards from the stage all the times I've seen them.
