I think Bloodflowers was kind of a shite record, but that's it. The rest are great.

Maybe it was just because it was their first album of new material since I had become a fan, but Bloodflowers was pretty much MY WHOLE LIFE through the spring semester of my freshman year at college. I was obsessed with listening to it, everywhere and anywhere.

Not to mention that album's tour was probably the best concert tour done by anyone, ever. 3 hours of uncompromising music with nary a single pop hit in sight.

I actually like Wild Mood Swings a lot. Hated it the first time I listened to it, but it grew on me very quickly. Gone!, Strange Attraction, the 13th, Mint Car, Jupiter Crash, Round & Round & Round, This is a Lie, & Want are all good songs. The first four of those are amongst my favorite Cure songs actually.

Treasure has some of the most depressing lyrics ever. WMS is easily the most underrated Cure album ever made.

Yea a lot of the songs on that album are actually fairly depressing for me, disguised by slightly more poppy music than is typical for the Cure. The lyrics to Strange Attraction always used to get me, I related to that song a little too closely.

I would have loved a horn section. That's what most annoyed me with the 2004 sets: automated horns just don't cut it, especially when you're doing Why Can't I Be You?

neither does the scatting/be-bopping. the horns make both of those songs. though i don't think i've ever heard the 13th at all i feel so lucky though that they did most of disintegration in 2004 at the curiosa festival and most of boys don't cry during the 2008 tour.

I've also not seen them do the 13th. I remember at the Download festival set, thinking 36 songs and you can't fix the 13th in??? They played for just under 3 hours. I'm an ingrate.

setlist.fm says they've only done the 13th a total of 6 times, EVER (and all of them were in 1996). I'm too lazy to see if that's totally accurate but that's pretty astounding.

i wonder if it's a horns thing. when they did close to me at coachella 2004, he said "i don't normally do this" and i wonder if that's partially why (besides the pop-ness of that and lovecats, which he also played).

I love The Cure so much. I always forget how much I enjoy them and then I hear Plainsong or something and end up watching their concert DVDs for 3 hours.
