Overall, I find OSL to be more relaxing than the other large festivals. Some people find that to be bad, but it has its charm. And depending on the lineup, you can usually get cheap Craigslist tickets.

Bad? Huh. Must be the kids. At my age, I cherish relaxing/comfortable festivals.

I only went to the first year. We went the first two days, it was a clusterfuck and I don't care who's fault it was, but if you can't even keep your main stage supplied with power two days in a row, that's a major fail. The last two years' line-ups haven't done much for me either. I guess they've improved upon some of the logistical nightmares that plague the festival, but I won't go this year unless there's a steller line-up.

@ Salah - I say PHISH might be there, due to their Summer Tours passing through CA during the early portion of August and PHISH's recent penchant for mixing things up on the West Coast. Also, it would be just to screw me out of a real show, just like OSL did for me with Radiohead.

Yeeeeah, my question was directed towards the first part of your statement. Phish doesn't really do it for me.

Duly noted. If you disregard Radiohead's appearance in '08, do you find OSLs line-ups to be worthwhile?

Hmm. Not really. Who knows what 2011 will bring though.

I could always wait a couple of months and attend Treasure Island.

TI will likely be more suited to your musical taste.

OSL has quite a few positives/many more negatives...the biggest - being the lineup. it's more than not very commercial/jam-heavy. however, the expansion of electronic acts the past year was a nice change. but, count on them having more of the Further/Phish/DMB set.

I'm feeling this too, which would be great because I really like live Phish. As for wishing, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Buffalo Springfield.

EDIT: I really like OSL, it's really chill and laid back and the crowd is non-douchey. Except for the first year, Radiohead and Beck brought all kinds of douchebag hipsters who insisted on talking and taking pictures of themselves during Radiohead. I've never had an issue with the lineup (except for the Black Eyed Peas, WTF?) because I don't often indulge in jam bands, so it's a fun once-a-year weekend for me to sate that end of my musical appetite. And I've never had an empty day at OSL, my viewing/listening schedule has been pretty full all three years.

Long story short: You'll see me at OSL next year drinking whiskey and dancing like the whitest guy you've ever seen.

Pretty funny how many people complete bash on Outside Lands, yet are keeping pretty quiet about Coachella's 2011 line-up. To me, at first look, this year's Coachella line-up looks like Outside Lands 2010 (which was 2 days), plus a couple of headlining shows around San Francisco during the summer/fall of 2010. I know GV will step it up and probably make some worthy adds, but I doubt I'll make the haul down there for the undercard. I'm not saying it sucks, and I know once you get on that field everything falls into place and its magical, but the headliners leave much to be desired.

I noticed it. When I first saw the line up, my first thought was "this looks exactly like Outsidelands." And I really liked Outsidelands....
