In which neighborhood(s) are the after parties, though? And is it really difficult to get cabs?
The talk of taxis is on point. The last thing I want to worry about stumbling out of a warehouse at 8:00 am is that my hotel is a fucklong commute away.
So...you didn't answer the question of whether it will be very difficult to find cabs at 4am, 8am, 10am, whenever the fuck I will be ready to sleep...
Detroit is notorious for not having good cab service. With that said I never had a problem and they mobilize way more cabbies for this weekend than any other. I'm sure someone with more experience can answer this question better.

In my experience, if you are proactive about it and have the foresight to call a cab, say, 30 minutes before you are ready to leave then you shouldn't have a problem regardless of what time you're talking about.
It's never going to be like it is here in Chicago where you can walk out and hail one whenever you're ready to go, especially in the wee hours of the morning.
This becomes less and less of a problem the closer your hotel is to the festival, as many of the after-parties are within walking distance of hart plaza.

Ok, that makes sense. I think I'm only planning on staying like ~5 blocks away from hart plaza, and I'm definitely not adverse to walking. It's just been a long time since I've been in downtown Detroit, and I wasn't sure whether walking alone in the middle of the night was a stupid idea.
@ aurgasm yes at corktown.
Well...what to do what do what to do

I can't decide. I want a posh-er room, but I also think it would be fun to be where everyone else is.
same boat.
I am wavering quite a bit. But they have a shuttle and basic amenities, which is just about everything I need.... I think I'm going to book today. UGH i say that everyday but I'm serious now.. I might just do it. like,...now

It's really easy to spend a maximum of just a few hours in your hotel room every night (morning). I feel like the music never stops at DEMF.

good point...
Corktown Inn it is!

Eh, I can't sustain that (not sleeping) for more than a day. The harder I go and later I stay out, the more I appreciate my hotel room. Comfy bed, baths, etc.
Plus sometimes at these things you find good reason to spend a few more hours in your room. I mean, so I've heard.
Edited to clarify: I'm not suggesting that one can't sleep just as well at the cheaper motels, I am just a spoiled brat. I think my room at ATP 08 traumatized me.![]()

Is Jacques Greene going to play this homo party?
Do we actually need to call Corktown or just email? I broke down and emailed earlier today... and then found out what I'm getting for my work bonus. Indecision.
Booked. I might book another room as a back up option until I figure out what I want to do.
<3 awesome, I'm so glad. this is gonna be a fucking blast. seriously
I decided to make this my first festival outside of Cali after seeing the DEMF history clips SoulDischarge posted. Booked my flight and bought my ticket yesterday. Looks like I'm travelling solo to this so it would be great to meet up with some of you over the weekend.
It sounds like a lot of people are staying at the Corktown Inn which has been mentioned through the thread:

I called about an hour ago, they still have rooms and sounds like the entire place will be festival attendees.... It looks 'eh' to me but I figure it will be a fun place to stay.
Looks like that will be the fun & inexpensive place to be for the weekend. Like you I'd normally splurge on a room at a bigger/nicer place but figure I won't be in the room much so why not have more money to spend on the weekend.
I booked Corktown a few weeks ago. I'm sure I'll be passing by many of you in a pre party euphoria/post party haze.
What time do you get in? I'm looking at airfare right now, probably will book next week.
