Its actually the official Paxahau opening party for the festival.

Pretty cool on their part since the other opening party for the festival is Rusko and Z-trip.

Would you mind telling us more about VIP? I see the info page, but I want to know what you think about it.

edit: wow. Talking with this ticketing company has been the best experience I've ever had with tickets. At this time they aren't sure whether they'll offer an upgrade or if they'll just refund your ticket and sell you a VIP one. The lady I spoke with told me she'd call me directly as soon as she found out!

I'm just saying fuck it, and going with VIP! 8^)

I think the VIP is totally worth it.

The free t-shirt
6 free drink tickets (although a few years ago it was 9)
Better and smoother entry to the fest
Better Bathrooms

And the VIP area is pretty cool and many of the artists are just hanging out there.

When you do the cost comparison, the VIP is just as expensive or even LESS than GA for Ultra, Electric Zoo and many other events like this.

Its really a no brainer, like everything else with this festival ;o)

Thanks for the info Riley... I don't really remember the VIP areas... can you post a picture of one maybe?? Like... I really don't remember AT ALL seeing anything like this. Then again it was my first time in Grant Park and everything I saw was new and strange..

damn, vip would be pretty sweet. I'll have to see my skrilla situation. I had to spend a lot more on my coachella flight than normal because my grandfather just passed away, and so I really need to be home in time for the second night (most important night) of passover/big family seder with my dad.

Possibly, I think euro names might not command the same respect in that I takes more support to sell a club night; or maybe the new population of electronic fans isn't used to marathon sets. Dunno

I think in certain cities it depends on the legal bar hours too.

in Detroit for example the legal closing time is 2 am and in rare occasions some places are able to stay open until 4 or 5 under some grandfathered permit or something.

Still no word on upgrades. The latest Paxahau email said adds were coming really soon; andi had a dream, a terrifying one, of a douchebag dressed in a mouse costume, and his name wasn't Mickey. The wrath of 17 year old Midwestern population will be fixated on Detroit if both Skrillex ad Deadmaus play...

A note on afterparties. They all seemed to go to 10am in the morning. Patrick, you left D25 at like 8am right? I remember they opene the bar up to VIPs at 8am and the party lifted off again. Then I got adopted by a married couple from japan that goes around the world attending electronic events (bumped into them again in Seattle) and we went tothe Minus pre party at Old Miami where I met Richie and Cassy.

Magic is abound at Demf. Im more excited for this than coach; namely because I've grown extremely weary of southern California in recent years.

I think I left around 7 or something. I was so fucking tired and just waiting for the buses to start running again. I think I even napped a little during Derrick May's set just sitting on the floor in the back where it was cool and wet.

Remember the button lady? I lost my button a few months later and it was a huge bummer.

This. Jamie Jones is amazing. Although he played last year so... maybe an afterparty?

Yeah. Don't know if they're going to bring him back so soon, but they have a lot of repeat acts from year to year so it's not totally out of the question. That was one of those sets where we just kind of sat on the grass and collected ourselves for.
