Very excited to see Mike Parker and Luke Slater Live on the initial announcement. I'm thinking this bodes well for the direction of the festival this year--darker/heavier. MAH KINDA SHIT.

I initially thought it was for clarity but, I mean I don't think anyone interested in PAS doesn't know by now that its a Luke Slater project or vice versa. I've been waiting for a few years now to see him in either incarnation, so I'll take what I can get.

Didn't Droid curate a stage last year or was it just an after hours?

Here are some ideas, note I have not been in or stayed in all of these:
Doubletree Fort Shelby - sold out
Marriott at the Renaissance Center - right beside the festival though apparently not very nice
Westin Book Cadillac - VIP ticket holders get dibs on a special price here (Movement will email you about it), lots of festival goers stay there
Courtyard Detroit Downtown - almost certainly sold out
    Antheneum
    Holiday Inn Express Detroit Downtown
    Greektown Casino

There are some more casino hotels I believe but most are a little further away.
The aforementioned Corktown Inn is very cheap, "not too" sketchy (it's a little sketchy) and while not close to the festival, they have a shuttle.
One of our friends stayed in Hostel Detroit and liked it a lot.

Main thing is that if you see hotel suggestions for Dearborn or other suburbs, understand that you will need to drive to the festival, there is not really a reasonable public transportation option, and with traffic on the holiday weekend that can be time consuming.
Thanks Chiapet. Me and my friends bought VIP so I think we might splurge and stay at that super nice hotel that's VIP only. The VIP deal is all right. Bout $50 a night per person but it looks super super nice. Sometimes you gotta TREAT YO SELF.

I stayed at the Westin Book Cadillac last year by getting a deal on Hotwire ($108/night) and it's a nice hotel in a perfect location. Walking distance to the fest and many afters.
Unfortunately no luck on a hotel that cheap so far :/

Home in the Historic Eastern Market

This 4 bedroom, 2.5 bath home is in downtown Detroit, you can see the Lions stadium, walk to greektown, the Lions and Tigers Stadium, theatres and the eastern market. Great nieghborhood, was the pasters home to a historic Luthern Church. attached garage, fenced yard, washer, dryer, complete kitchen. 3 king beds, 1 full, 2 sofa's.

    Room type:Entire home/apt
    Bed type:Real Bed
    Accommodates:9
    Bedrooms:4
    Bathrooms:2.5
    Extra people:No Charge
    Minimum Stay:5 nights
    Weekly Price:$1500 /week
    Cleaning Fee:$75

With a 5 night minimum and a full week being 1500, you could probably get it down to 1200. Split that 10 way and you have yourselves a nice place in DT Detroit for 120 a head.
Find a few extra people and go in on this. It's not expensive and it a good location. 5 night min. though

None that I'm aware of at all. This sort of thing is not well advertised in Detroit, you would have to do the legwork of calling hotels to ask. Even though the festival weekend is big business for them they don't seem to think to advertise such a service (or maybe they don't need to offer it or advertise it to be fully booked, so they don't?)

The drive from the airport to downtown Detroit also can be pretty long when there is traffic. The Tigers have home games all through the festival weekend, and the ballpark is really close to the festival venue. I would expect a lot of traffic coming in on Sunday and Monday.

In the past, there was a company that ran shuttles between Ferndale and/or Royal Oak (which are suburbs) and downtown during the festival. They don't have anything posted about this year yet: http://www.thenightmove.com/

... Yes, as we've mentioned a couple of times in just the last few pages, the Corktown Inn has shuttles to the festival, and the hotel is pretty shitty, but you most likely wouldn't get harmed there or anything. It's just dirty, sketchy, and doesn't feel very secured. It was mostly festival goers when we stayed there, but some people were clearly residents and a few women seemed to be renting their erhm places of employment there.

Fuck why are flights from Seattle to Detroit upwards of $500... At least the ticket to the festival is beautifully priced. Still going to try to make this happen.. Looks like I'll be eating top ramen for lunch the next couple of months

If you have extra time and are short on cash, fly to Chicago and hop on a Megabus for like 20 tops round trip. I just checked SW Airlines and Thur-Tues from Seattle to Chi is 230 there and 212 back. (The reason I say SW is two free bags)

    Here's Megabus' website http://us.megabus.com/
Look up the last days they have to offer in April (the may schedule isn't out yet) and you can see you can get a 1$ seat allllllllll the way up to a 6$ seat. Yeah, it's a 4 hour cruise to the D on the bus but if it saves you a big chunk of cash and you get to fuck around in Chi for a few hours then it's worth looking into. If you keep checking the site and book within the first couple days you can go round trip for 2$

That video was a nice way to start my day

I don't plan on it but I did want to do a Fest that weekend. LIB is now out of the question. Waiting on the Sasquatch lineup.

Flights to Detroit are high. I just checked from MSP to Det and it was 330 but to Chi is 190. Driving to Minneapolis kills 3 hours of my time each way and is 80 bucks additional in fuel. My best bet would be to drive and pay 300 in fuel. I have a friend that lived in Detroit for 7 years going to UMich and I think I could get him to come with. I got him to go to Coachella last year for his first fest and he always asks when the next one is. I also just messaged a friend who does roadie work there to see if he can get any perks or if the company he works for is doing the sound or lighting.
