Well you know I'll be back (unless I'm already in England for a study abroad program.) From now on, if I'm living in Cincy (or somehwere closer) during memorial day weekend then I will go to DEMF for sure. It was cheap and a whole lot of fun.

I want to go, but everything I have planned for the year already is much more important and this would just add to the stack of tickets I already have to purchase.

I'm not only going, I already know where we're all staying- the corktown inn. most chilled-out, relaxed, convenient place to stay. free 5 minute shuttle every 15 minutes to the festival gate, set times and after party info in the lobby, easy going party-friendly staff, and it's cheap. also a 5 minute walk to a decent liquor store. if we book a block of rooms soonish, we'd probably get a ridiculously good rate. I got a king the night before the fest for $100

Same weekend as Lightning in a Bottle and Sasquatch, yeah? Such fierce competition!

$40, a flight to Detroit and a hotel. Coachella, Burning Man and Lightning in a Bottle are all more important to me right now.

Well that's cool man, sounds like you got an amazing fest season lined up! Devin, yea the competition is very fierce; with two super comfortable festivals going on the same week as this one in "Detroit!" (said in an alarming tone) there are hardly any west coasters in attendance. I know you guys would love it, you do too, but priorities and logistics are important factors here. Having done it solo, met up with a few boardies and a ton of amazing strangers, Demf feels like something that will be a part of me for as long as I'm in this country. I love celebrating electronic music in this fashion; it's perfect for me.

Pilgrim, man I am tempted.. and if everyone else is cool I'm for it. I've ben looking at the hyatt and the casinos, but I believe that could easily be a waste of money considering the options available and the time you spend in your room. Plus I hear the place is safe.

I'll trust you guys on what hotel to book. When I told my mother and some of my friends I was planning on going to Detroit I got the typical, "DETROIT?!?!" response, but I also trust that being with you all will be completely safe.

2012 will be my year to be out there, this is a festival I really do want to attend. I had a friend who was going to medical school out there a couple years ago, but he moved to do his residency in like Iowa or something like that. I'll be damned if I miss this in 2012!

it's safe, private locked parking, private shuttles, clean rooms, and cheap.

getting to detroit notwithstanding, the entire weekend cost me like $250 including a huge amount of weed and alcohol

I can see people shake their asses off in Miami any day of the week, it's Miami... How I miss little Havana and getting down in the Grove. I surely don't miss Dade County jail.

Anywayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy. This is going to be huge. Gonsh, I'm very pleased to see you'll be joining this year. Demf is notoriously late coming with their lineup, although a lot of acts will announce their presence early on. I suspect quite a few dB and Mutek artists and then three or four big headliners... but we all know DEMF isn't about 'omg the chemical bros!'. It's a celebration of the wide range and variety of electronic music; the known and the unknown.

Can't wait for this. Luca, corktown inn is looking like it might be the place. i wonder if some finagling wont land us a group rate...hrmmmmm

they give 10% off just for joining their facebook group, I'm sure if we book early for a block of rooms we'll get a deal.

The United States State Department happened..

it was a shame... but having Richie throw down a two hour set in Ricardo's slot made me forget allllllll about it.

Luca, fuck yea, that sounds great! Thanks for keeping us up on this!

I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see him at Coachella this year, not saying it's guaranteed or antyhing but it wouldn't surprise me.

it wasn't an adequade substitution, but it was better than an empty timeslot, that's for sure. I ahd fun being ten feet away from richie hawtin dancing in the trees next to the river with a giant v-dosc hang pointed at my head.

I can understand DEMF not being on the top of people's list of priorities, but if you can get a round trip flight or bus ticket for a hundred bucks or so (that's the limit I'd put, it only cost me like $20 round trip >.< ), it's hands down the best bang for your buck you can get at an outdoor fest, and the atmosphere is so fucking fantastic. everyone from detroit, even the POLICE, are just happy to be out with lots of other happy people partying and having a good time. seriously- cops decked out in mardi gras beads and DETROIT=REAL TECHNO pins, dancing to the beat as they direct traffic outside the gates. and drink vendors inside that don't bat an eyelash when you ask for five shots of vodka in one cup, and a can of red bull.

I really really want anyone that can do it to come down this year. I promise you won't regret it. it's not coachella, but it's not meant to be. it's a straight-up, balls-to-the-wall PARTY of the finest degree.
