    Default Austin Psych Fest 2015

    From their Facebook page:

"Dates, lineup and details on the 2015 festival coming soon. We're excited to share the good news!"

This made me more than a little excited this morning.

The local APF buddies of mine immediately exchanged texts as to headliner speculation like so:

    MBV (finally!)
    Slowdive
    Jesus & Mary Chain

Pipe dreaming, of course, but who would you guys like to see there in '15?

I'd love to see Sleep or Butthole Surfers. I think both would be perfect for this festival.
October 16 - Run The Jewels
    October 20 - Mastodon
    October 23 - 26 - Housecore Horror Festival
    October 29 - The Melvins
November 7-9 - Fun Fun Fun Fest
    November 18 - Slayer
    November 19 - eyehategod
    January 31 - Mayhem/Watain

Sleep would be awesome... I'd even take OM again as a consolation prize.

I was thinking about another Chapterhouse/Ulrich Schnauss gig, too. I'd be all over that. Or a Ride reunion. A guy can dream.

Hoping the festival ends up being a weekend or two earlier than it was last year as I would really like to make this happen.

Earlier, as in April? Why doesn't May work for you?

Ulrich Schnauss at this festival would be bomb. I think it would be really cool if they branched out and got some artists of the acid-tinged dance music variety.

    10/18-19: Treasure Island Music Festival
    10/22: Roman Flugel @ f8
    10/25: Moodymann @ PW
11/20: The Drive by Truckers, Sturgill Simpson @ The Fillmore

If they do the old psych rock band thing again like they did with The Zombies this year, I'd love for them to get Vanilla Fudge to play. I think they'd be a blast and as far as I know they're still together.

The Kinks are most likely a pipe dream... but Ray Davies isn't. His voice still sounds great and all he does is play Kinks' songs. He's also been touring with a choir that really sounds fantastic.

I just hope it's before Euphoria fest (assuming it will still be a thing). Those kids really did a number on the grass.

    It's possible.

Yeah, I know they've been talking but I doubt the Kinks would play such a tiny festival (especially on a reunion tour).

Hmm I wouldn't think they would cost more than MBV or Spirtualized but I am just man and not the bumble in The Couve .

JAMC have a couple Psychocandy gigs coming up this month, and I thought I read at some point that they have plans for more shows down the road. If true, that would make a great headliner.

I think there is a good chance for Slowdive. Ray Davies or The Kinks would be amazing!! The Church have a new album coming out, so maybe they can play. Pulling off a Butthole Surfers set would be huge! Tame Impala? Maybe get goat and Dead Skeletons back and have them on the main stage? Singapore Sling recorded some new tunes, I believe. July? Bubble Puppy? It may be a stretch, and not everyone cup o tea, but if a The Cure can fit the Riot Fest mold, why not APF? Mark Gardener has done Desert Stars twice, so it would be cool to see him at APF.

My pipe dream would be seeing Ultra Vivid Scene playing Rev in full! Julian Cope would be nice as well.

And I hope to see newcomers WAND on the lineup!

Hands up who thinks a 13th Floor reunion would be pointless/impossible. I can dream.

Jesus and Mary Chain did Austin in March 2012, but with unique setlist it would be a solid booking.

Just wish some of these acts would come up to the Northwest more often.

It was very cool to see Julian Cope a few months ago at Primavera. Though he looked like Zack Wylde laying Taylor Swift's sparkly acoustic guitar.

    Two random lineup thoughts:

    1) Wooden Shjips needs to be there.

    b) Mercury Rev playing "See You on the Other Side" in full for it's 20th anniversary wouldn't suck either.

13th Floor Elevators couldn't reunite, seeing as how the lead guitarist was killed, their bassist died and their jug player/primary songwriter became a Scientologist.

Yes. I was surprised they weren't there last year considering they had a new album and all.

Also, here's the recap video of 2014:

EDIT* Also, SWANS are well overdue.

    Oh, duh! Of course!

    The Blue Angel Lounge
    Wall of Death
Yes! One good thing about this festival is that they don't have a strict "no repeating" rule, as both of these have made at least two appearances in the last four years. Love them both.

My girlfriend and I just spoke to Christian Bland @ Moon Block Party in Pomona. He said they're moving the festival to May 8th in order to secure a headliner, and then we asked if he'd drop a headliner name and he said Tame Impala are playing!

Sorry to be a kill joy of sorts, but The Blue Angel Lounge broke up.

Interesting that they moved the dates to secure a headliner. Really makes me wonder who it could be...... Kind of has the feel of a group reforming.........
