I am neither foxy, nor a lady.
Neil Young - Kanye West - Beck - PJ Harvey - The Knife - Basement Jaxx - Tom Waits - Shpongle (Live) - Flying Lotus (Live) - The Avalanches - Autechre - Eels - Fat Freddy's Drop - Liquid Liquid - OFWGKTA - Freddie Gibbs - Big K.R.I.T. - Phantogram - Christian Scott - Nosaj Thing - Gold Panda - James Blake
He posted a sampler from his upcoming album. It's really unfair to judge an album from an 11 minute sampler, but that's not stopping me. Gotta say, everything (seems to) pale in comparison to his stunning cover of "Limit to Your Love" (man I love that cover). Getting the feeling he's going to be a strong producer but mediocre songwriter. I hope I'm wrong; I'll happily eat crow on this one if I am.
Oh and I'm not trying to flame any "rumors", I just didn't think this was worth starting a new James Blake thread for.
PLEASE, FOR THE LOVE OF MUSIC. If any single person besides Flying Lotus NEEDS to be at the Polo Fields it is this genius.

I adore this album.
edit: (especially the progression of "I never learnt to share") that drop is so great.
new album drops feb 8th, for those that actually buy albums still.
Blake signs to Universal Republic
Few artists are generating hype right now as much as James Blake, the post-dubstep producer whose dreamy fusion of sincere songcraft and minimal electronics makes girls swoon as much as it makes boys blog. Today, it was announced that Blake has signed to major label Universal Republic in the U.S., and his self-titled debut album will drop in America NEXT WEEK! This of course sets-up Blake to get exposed to an audience well beyond the niche fans who spent 2010 playing Blake’s releases on Belgium techno imprint R&S on repeat. It also means there’s a good chance that by the end of 2011, those same underground fans will be distancing themselves from their early praise should Blake become as popular as, say, James Blunt—another artist who briefly gained the adoration of the arbiters of cool before blowing up in the mainstream. You be the judge…
A full album stream is now available:
Didn't this leak like a month and a half ago? Or is this a different version?
I believe so, but having never heard the leaked version I cannot say whether this one is any different than the first.
In any case, this album is really quite something, one that is bound to be on many year-end lists for 2011. I am not so sure I'd want to see at Coachella, though - his music seems better suited for an indoor venue where there isn't the possibility of it being drowned out by something louder nearby.
He's the IT artist of 2011. We need him at the Polo Fields!
I was pretty surprised he wasn't on the poster
http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2011...p-album-reviewA record like this doesn't come without some controversy. There are those who are wary of Blake seemingly repackaging dubstep for the dinner-party circuit. If it's true that Blake's angelic looks haven't exactly hindered his passage overground, this is an album more likely to curdle cream than sit nicely on the coffee table. Blake grew up playing piano; his return to that instrument after a few years blowing holes in his eardrums is an inspired lateral shimmy.
I was really surprised to see him missing. He is playing in May, however...

Oh shit,... assumed he was after seeing the thread title. Oh well, new music either way. thanks for the turn on.
Unless he is on Tour....he should still be added. It just seems right. He is the most blogged about artists right now
