Burning Man 2011 - Rites of Passage

Will be my 2nd time going. Long time burner friends from SF and a few of us who were virgins last year are creating a camp for 2011. We've already started planning, gonna be another great experience.

Damn lol, already looking to BM 2011? Its way to early in the year to have BM be occupying my thoughts (even thought its never really left).

I'm in no rush to go again, even though the 2011 theme is great. I just know that I have to be back in 2012....

BM just never interested me.

Knew a guy that went every year from like 97 or 98 until 05 or 06 and he is kind of a snob about BM, but he says "it isn't what it used to be" whatever that means.

I am sure if by some wild turn of events I go that I will enjoy myself, but this type of event for a full week just doesn't appeal to me. Never really has.

For people that can be/are so conscious of the evolution of things, I'm surprised that so many are bitter about the evolution of burning man.

People who say "it isn't what it used to be" probably didn't really do much to help keep it the way they liked it. This is a frequent topic of discussion on alot of burning man forums and its the same thing over and over again.

Off course it "isnt what it used too be." It started as just like 8-12 people burning a man on a full moon. Kinda creeps me out when I think about the first burners.

Yea actually. I always wanted to go but it conflicts/conflicted with school (good way to control crowd quality). Last semester I took a break so it was the perfect chance.... Couldnt have made a better decision
