These festivals tend to share a lot of artists because they are both on the same weekend and one is in Ireland and the other is in Scotland (UK). You can most likely add Rodrigo Y Gabriela to T in the Park as they announced they would likely be there when I saw them play Glasgow in late November.

I'm very surprised that Oxegen managed to land Broken Social Scene. Their lineup tends to be very scattershot just because it's the BIG festival here, but that's still a weird one.

Oxegen's crowd will fucking love Eminem and Jay Z.

I think it's safe to say the artists who weren't confirmed are either yet to come, or just in negotiations, as it were.

T in The Park usually has really awesome line ups. The line up this year is awful. Oxygen is OK, there are a handful of good bands, but nothing that special.

My roommate has gone the last two years and enjoyed it quite a bit. He wasn't in any fights or involved in any tent burning. He did say if young drunk people annoy you then this is not the place to go because everyone gets pretty drunk.

Tent burning has been toned down the last few years after the infamous bedlam of a few years ago, but it's still fairly scummy. I'm not sure what an American analogue would be. Electric Picnic is to Coachella what Oxegen is to...?

Yeah, Coachella's whole capacity can be watching the main stage fairly comfortably at any given time. Makes it quite hard to police effectively or usefully.

Substitute the baked potato for "bag of chips" and that image serves to sum up the Oxegen experience equally effectively.

I have severely mixed feelings on this one, to be honest. I'm delighted they're rolling again, obviously, but I am not a fan of Oxegen as a festival. It always gets a big name lineup, but as an overall experience, it's soulless, thoughtlessly organised, and it has one of the worst festival crowds on earth. It's an adversarial endurance trial of a thing, rather than something that's actually enjoyable to take part in.

I can't find five bands other bands in the rest of the lineup I'd camp to see. Arcade Fire are headlining the Friday, so I'll probably just get a single day ticket for that. Even then, because it's the Friday, I know a lot of my friends can't go, or at least can't go in time to make the pit.

I love Arcade Fire, but fucking hell, they don't half make me work for it sometimes.
