Aww, I want to hang out with the cool kids on NYE. OKC is only a 3.5 hour drive for us...

If anyone can give some ideas for an NYC show let me know. 70 bucks for infected mushroom sounds bleh. I wasn't down with the second half of their set at Coachella. It sounded like bad nurock produced by a DJ. I'm glad my friend made me see Spoon.

    $70 for Infected Mushroom? Really?

Aw, ditch Andy and make it a girls trip. If I was 3 hours away from OKC, I would go in a second!

(Unfortunately, it's 9+ hours in airplanes for me).

I would go to this if it wasn't invite only:

Jay-Z, Coldplay Booked for New Year's Eve Concert in Las Vegas
The invitation-only concert, happening at the new Cosmopolitan casino, will feature sets from both artists, plus a joint performance

    By Daniel Kreps
    Sep 20, 2010 6:36 PM EDT

Jay-Z and Coldplay will play what's likely to be the most in-demand New Year's Eve concert this year at Cosmopolitan hotel in Las Vegas. Both artists will play individual sets, as well as a joint performance. Billboard reports that the invitation-only concert will be shown on the Cosmopolitan's 65-foot screen overlooking the strip. The concert Will crown three days worth of celebrations for the new hotel; another Artist, currently secret, is scheduled to perform on the Cosmopolitan's pool deck.

Just last week, Jay-Z and Coldplay's Chris Martin shared the stage at when at New York's Yankee Stadium, performing "Most Kings" and "Heart of the City (Ain't No Love)" together, before Jay-Z stepped aside and let Martin play a solo rendition of Coldplay's "Clocks." The Cosmopolitan concert is the only gig Coldplay has scheduled for the remainder of 2010, as the band continues work on the follow-up to 2008's Viva La Vida.

Erika and I are pretty disappointed by what SF has to offer this year. We're thinking of possibly heading to LA instead. What's up with the lack of an announcement from HARD?

Didn't they say hard was skipping NYE this year in an interview.

Yes I remember this. Someone should find the article,

I'm disappointed in LA's selection this year myself. Hopefully something good gets announced.

That would make sense considering HARD doesn't have NYE listed and yet they have shows listed all the way until March.

has KCRW ever hosted a New Year's type of event like how they do their Halloween Masquerade? It would be interesting to see what they could pull together in terms of bands/their own djs...

I've checked out LA listings as well and can't find anything compelling on the west coast at all. Hopefully there is still something on the way.

Gonna try to go to the Flaming Lips new years show. Last time I saw them they didn't play a single song from the Soft bulletin, which disappointed me a lot, and its pretty cheap for what it is.

Its a pretty decent drive though and I think GA sold out. Eh

KCRW's event last year was in conjunction with OM and looked pretty cool. It was in Santa Monica and $175 for an all inclusive ticket.

Erika and I went down to LA for NYE 2007. We saw Mark Farina and Marques Wyatt at Vanguard and had a blast. The tix weren't all that expensive and included an open bar that served top shelf liquor at no extra cost. We had a lot of fun.

The only way you're going to get more is by going to New York for Prince or OKC for the Flaming Lips. Is Armin van Buuren doing another 9 hour dj set in LA? If not, where will all the fist-pumping ensue?

Really wish I could've been there for the Lips/Gnarls Barkley/Cat Power New Years show in LA four years ago.

I'm still holding out for the rest of the Prince shows to be announced, the dates that have been announced so far, I can't go to. It blows my mind to think there would be nothing good on the entire west coast though. (And I've seen the flips enough times).

I think the only fun NYE show I've ever been to was the Dirtbombs and the New Bomb Turks in Cleveland. It was sold out and I was underage and I sneaked in with beers. Being an adult sucks.
