That's their job. If you weren't a deadbeat you wouldn't have to listen to them berate you.

$333. Chicago insanely affordable? Well, however you did it fantastic job. The most affordable place I found was a studio at Clark and Belmont. Size? 250 sq ft, not even joking. Rent was $500/month. I considered it. lol.

Eh, no. Pay the mortgage. Alsways the mortgage. The cc. co's can go sing for their payments.

Buy a cheaper used car. I paid $1100 for my Volvo a year ago and it's been a dream.

Last time I did that I ended up with hundreds of thousands of dollars of debt and college credits that don't transfer in a field where a degree doesn't mean shit. I'm going to give myself a few years to become less of an idiot before I commit to something again.

Logan Square. Huge apartment, share with two people, we each have our own room, two bathrooms, one full, one half, two living room areas, huge kitchen, a walk in pantry, and a back balcony. Not really even in that much of the ghetto either. Unless I walk 20 minutes south. It's an amazing deal, but I doubt it's the only one in the city. Plus transportation is good enough I don't have to own a car (even if the CTA gets fucking worse every.single.goddamned.day). I don't know why everyone isn't flocking here.

I'm an idiot and went to the first film school that accepted me, which was privately owned and apparently more expensive than Harvard. And blew a lot of my loan money on liquor and blow and music festivals.

It really, really was. I just had no conception of financial responsibility back then. I don't know the exact figure, but I'm sure it'd be depressing if it wasn't so comically outrageous.

Ah, roommates. I didn't know you had those already. Sounds like a great area and pad! The chicago rent quote I gave was based on total rent and living in a specific area obviously.

So we don't have to pay for cremation when we inevitably die alone and broke in our apartments.

Although to be fair, far more poor people that I've known have cable with every premium channel than pets.

Agreed. I'm from the country. If your dog has a life threatening injury or illness that is going to cost thousands you take it "out back" and put it down yourself.

I learned that lesson the hard way last year. What was supposed to be a simple procedure getting my cat to pass kidney stones ballooned to nearly $5,000 after 4 months and the cat ended up dead anyway. it was fucking miserable. Never again.

let me just say i have weird issues with pets in general. i love them. but i tend to think they don't get a full existence as someone's pet and that makes me feel guilty, especially with indoor cats.

i kind of get medications, but it seems to me that surgery has to be a strange experience for the pet. you can't just explain to them that "hey, this guy you don't know is going to put you in a coma, tear apart your insides, and then you'll wake up feeling different". that has to be odd for the pet. i guess death would feel odd too though.
