lesson learned! kidding kidding. that was just a figure of speech. i would never strangle someone with one of my rage shirts...i might stretch it out. different people go to shows for different things. yes we are all created equal but we are not all equal. we're different. if only one type of person went to a specific show, it would not continue for 8 yrs. what we do all have in common(for the most part) is the music. we all enjoy diffferent music in different ways. hence the many different types of music. concert etiquette should be things like.
dont rush the stage. (people could get hurt)
dont do more drugs than you can handle and fuck up someone elses day.
dont purposely trash the place.( like we did at woodstock 99" but they had it coming.)
not things like, dont dance too much, dont jump too high, sit and listen cause i want to. thats just fucking petty and stupid. when you put together and promote your own show, then make that your shows etiquette.
ahhh, now that im off work i have time to see what you ment subBass. i didnt see that this thread was started before the show. anyway, my comment was general in nature considering i am aware the show has come and gone. (i was there) it stands for anyshow.
oh by the way everyone. Fela fucking rocks. or rocked anyway. (listening)
ZOMBIE!!ZOMBIE!!ZOMBIE!!
Your guys' rules, for the most part, are gay. Very, very gay.
Wow...according to my e-mail that I got there was much more rampant homophobic crap spouted in this post by Jigglyprick...
PS - kinda funny for someone named Jigglypuflvr to be using "gay" as an insult...just sayin'
Leave the moshing in the pit. Don't go out to the edges of the crowd and start banging into people.
Last night I was at the Rodrigo y Gabriela show in LA with my WHOLE family and this "kid" comes in about 2 songs late into their set and proceeds to stand up when he is the only one in the venue doing so. I had my 2 year old daughter in my lap and my husband to my left. This kid is 2 rows ahead and directly infront of my brother, his girlfriend, and my mom and dad. Only about a song and half in to the "kids" arrival I see out of my periphery my brother and my dad lunging forward across the row in front of us toward the guy. It was the next song where Rodrigo said in his broken Spanish to "get up if you want to get up." I stood up with my baby girl in my arms in direct protest to what my family had done. I found out later the guy directly in front of my bro and dad had asked him to sit down and the "kid" had turned around and gave him two middle fingers - one on each hand 'cuz that's where I keep them too - and refused to even attempt to acknowledge the guy. Of course on the drive him it spiraled in to the discussion of the Mexican nouvea riche (or however you frickin' spell that.)
So what are your impressions?
Sadly, this could happen even if you had front row tickets. People today seem to throw courtesy out the door because they feel that the seat and space is theirs for the night. This makes them feel that they have the privilege to act however they want. This is becomming a common occurrence as more people spend their disposable income on concerts. It's kind of like all of the fans who started to go to Happy Gilmore golf games. Sorry you had a bad time. Bastards.
Whiskey Sour
2 oz blended whiskey
Juice of 1/2 lemon
1/2 tsp powdered sugar
1 cherry
1/2 slice lemon
Shake blended whiskey, juice of lemon, and powdered sugar with ice and strain into a whiskey sour glass. Decorate with the half-slice of lemon, top with the cherry, and serve.
I had a great time. It was a good show - not as great as their set at Coachella, but good.
The part that made me the most frustrated was the fact that the incident affected my family's impression of the artists. I don't know, if I was the one on stage I'd tell everybody to fuckin' get up if they wanted to also.
Essentially R y G is a rock show. "For those about to rock I salute you."
They played Wish You Were Here, but it wasn't the same. I was shocked at how few people knew the lyrics. It was like a low mumble across the crowd as people tried to pretend they knew what was going on. At Coachella, we all seemed keyed in to what was going on; there was an electricity that was clearly absent in LA.
Okay so I have been seriously contemplating this issue for some time...
I personally get REALLY FUCKING FRUSTRATED when I am at a show and some jackass is singing all the words as loud as humanly possible. I just don't understand why you would pay money to hear yourself sing? I understand the singing along business...it's enjoyable, but why why why so loud? Am I missing something...
What say you?
i dont think ive ever had that problem, the actual performer is usually loud enough to drown out everything, i cant even hear myself sing
what say i? let the guy enjoy himself

I know for sure I was singing loud (for myself) at The Hives the other night...I hope I didnt ruin it for Rage Patton.

yeah... depends on if they are super drunk... then fuck I have to move
When I start actually singing the lyrics aloud during shows, I try to conscientiously switch to just mouthing it, but most of the time that doesn't end up happening... Especially if I know all the lyrics to the song.
what you guys talkin about?
