So I saw Deerhunter for the first time at Sasquatch... I was blown away, they were amazing! I also got a setlist!!!
Speaking of, I listened to Halcyon Digest front to back today for the first time in awhile.
Helicopter creeps me out now. The combination of what Pitchfork said about the song (how it's about a Russian girl caught up in sex slavery or some shit) and the rumors of Bradford being molested when he was little add up to it being a much different and weirder listening experience for me now than it was last year.
6/22 - Father John Misty/White Fence - Glass House (?)
6/26 - Tricky - El Rey (?)
6/29 - Twin Shadow - Fonda (?)
7/06 - Lee Burridge, et al. - Dilettante
7/12 - Black Flag - Observatory

New live album streaming on Rhapsody. It's okay. The SoHo one is definitely superior. For some reason, on this recording and the one at SoHo, Desire Lines doesn't sound all that great live.

According to Pitchfork, this is the setlist but Hazel St. is after Desire Lines and Revival is after Don't Cry:
01 Wash Off
02 Desire Lines
03 Don't Cry
04 Nothing Ever Happened
05 Helicopter
06 He Would Have Laughed

If anyone hasn't picked up the Memory Boy 7" (RSD release), Rhino in Claremont discounted their remaining stock to $3.99.
They don't have it for sale online, shucks. I should probably find that on Discogs or ebay before it is all gone.
Got one on Ebay, from JorgeC. Small world!

I love that song.
That's the song that he struggled to play at ATP 2009 because he couldn't get his loop pedals to behave.
I enjoy "Modern Aquatic Nightsongs": http://www.gorillavsbear.net/2011/09...ic-nightsongs/
Another new one: "Oh, Ricky":
NPR's "All Songs Considered" played a 4th new song "Mona Lisa" from the album a couple weeks ago that was pretty much pure pop rock. Minimal effects. Here's an older version:

*based upon tedious fact checking.
I'm glad Mona Lisa is making it out of the Bedroom Databank, I'll admit I like it, its pretty catchy.
I'm digging Parallax so far, although it isn't anything spectacular for me. Mona Lisa is a quite different version compared to the Bedroom Databank, I prefer the Databank version because it is a lot more toned down.
Yeah, I see quite a bit of linkage to HD as well. It's good.
Love the sound. Something about it is disconcerting and off, weirding me out. Dig it a lot.
Here is a new interview with Bradford Cox done by Spin.

He likes to talk about his loneliness.

Has anyone listened to this? Holy shit...I'm just at the beginning but the atmospherics he's creating with Te Amo are fucking astounding.

So, I know Atlas Sound is doing a small tour currently... but do we have any news regarding Deerhunter? New album? Are they on hiatus?
