Richard Harrow's scene was boss. I'm really liking how his character has grown with confidence. It was a great spot for humor in that episode when Nucky and Eli see the aftermath of Harrow's rampage.

Excellent episode this past Sunday. Seems like Harrow has checked off everyone on his hit list, Totally stealth. I was wondering, did those insurance paper documents he grabbed of the first 2 dead men, lead him to the other guy in that office that he killed after shooting him in the face?. This new Knox character is intriguing, really looking forward to see how he's going to fit in with all this. So that girl who jumped out of a window of a huge hotel half naked with no money, where could she possibly be hiding?

That was a some kind of fucking finale. Huge contrast to how last season ended but somehow way more intense. It's gonna take a bit before I decide how I feel about it.

The last 2 episodes were masterpieces.

i watched the last two back to back. definitely exciting. though i find the whole gillian set-up a bit far-fetched. some detective decided to devote that much time, effort, hair-holding-back, and dick to snagging that confession out of her? really? that is a bit sick. i mean, i knew things were going a little too well for her and that something would happen, but that was all just a bit hard.

i cried over harrow :x that poor guy never catches a break.

so i was also pretty tired by the end, did the brother go to jail or somehow run off to hide?

Eli was sent to Chicago, and was picked up at the train stop by none other than Van Alden/Mueller. Chicago is going to be fun next season.

the dude wasn't trapping Gillian just to be a dick. He was being paid big money by Leander (and that whole crew of old dudes). Everyone in AC knew that Jimmy was killed by Nucky or someone close to him. The house belonged to Jimmy and Gillian couldn't get it without a death certificate so it was pretty obvious to everyone in the know that this is what Gillian had done. Now if they could prove it then she's stripped of the commodore's house and it goes back to the old men for their debts.

Makes sense. The series seems to be framed by the Roaring 20's. It would probably be a wholly different show after 1929.

I loved the finale too... my girlfriend was in tears because of the ending. I'm really going to miss this show. Some other HBO shows may have the hyperbole-inducing moments, but for my money, Boardwalk is among it's absolute best.

It was annoying how rushed to kill off all the principle characters. Yes of course there are only so many episodes in a season and the historical characters had to go where they had to go, but Nucky's death was the only one that drew on a story arc that lasted beyond last season.

After some thought i didn't really care for this final season. I thought Nucky's death was stupid, and the execution gave me a headache beating that point into my head. If this was the route they always wanted to go then they should have been making a better play over the last two or three seasons rather than having Patricia Arquette, Dr. Whogivesafuck, and the choke sex guerrilla wap. Also, how the fuck did this kid age 10 years in only 5? The shit was lazy, and tried waaay too hard.

Couldn't agree more. This season sucked. Still better then 99 percent of television, but the weakest season by far. It felt so rushed.

You didn't catch a couple episodes earlier when it was revealed that the little girl ended up being that young guy's mother from the beginning two seasons? Who's in the mental hospital now?

The flashbacks were the only remotely good thing this season

    clearly not.

i guess i liked all the rapid deaths. i didn't need even more story for a lot of these people. we'd seen it the entire show.

It seems clear to me that they didn't know 5 was going to be the final season when they were writing 4.

btw the time jump was about 7 years at least, not just from the context of the imminent prohibition repeal, but I think Chalky mentions it a few episodes ago.

I assumed the "kid" she was talking about was Tommy Darmody.
The flashback girl's name was Jillian, there was no ambiguity there.

I was impressed by how well all the flashback characters were matched to their current actors, both in appearance and manner.

Michael Shannon's final scene was the about the only thing I enjoyed the entire season. Most of the good characters were long dead and all of the flashbacks were just a really clumsy way of wrapping everything up (while still managing to reveal nothing that wasn't already known.) And if Nucky didn't want to die then he shouldn't have gone for a lonely introspective walk while contemplating the very moment that he sold his soul. Irony is a killer.

I was hoping the flashbacks would amount to more than an expedient way to explain his demise from karmic retribution. I suppose we did learn a lot more about him and but his turn from good guy to bad guy was a bit rushed and not too compelling IMO.

i agree. i liked the flashbacks for historic reasons, not plot reasons. i have never found this to be the best show on hbo or anything, but i enjoyed this season. the so capone scenes were all entertaining. i also loved the jewish gangsta singing about his girlfriend's pussy

I had a friend in high school whose grandfather used to sing that when his mom and grandma left the house.

btw Bugsy Siegel was probably the most famous gangster of all time (after Capone) and the show seemed to just toss him in last minute even he goes all the way back to childhood with Meyer Lansky. He was awesome, I wish they had more of him.
