With our love-we could save the world-if they only knew.
I'm not qualified in any way to even begin composing a list like that.
But this is fucking awesome.

Seriously?
And to think my intial concern was for whomever it was that was popping off about the Beach Boys being overrated!
For the record, Revolver is the correct answer to all of these questions: best Beatles album, best '60s album, best album ever. This is one area where the Rolling Stones and assorted boomer critics of the world manage to get it correct: the top ten or so albums of all time are basically all going to come from the 1965 - 1969 era.
Edit: Mr. Fuzz was the poster on both comments!
5/23 - QOTSA - Wiltern > Boris - Echoplex
5/24 - Boris - Echoplex
5/30 - John Talabot - Echoplex (?)
6/02 - Bjork - Palladium
6/08 - The Field - El Rey (?)

Bruce Springsteen, Talking Heads, Beach Boys, Public Enemy, and The Clash don't belong in any top ten.

My friends consistently make fun of me for loving Moby as much as I do by quoting some line from his terrible biopic:
"If you don't go over the top, how can you see the other side."
I would typically respond by blasting "Bat Out of Hell" next time they were in my car.
Wait a second, how did we let this list slide with entirely omitting Bian Eno? Another Green World would easily make my top 30.
And no Herbie too...
I don't know why people feel that no one has made an album as good as anything in the 60s. Just because it came first doesn't mean it was the best.

Do they give this list without clicking through a thousand pages? I would like a simple 1-100 list plz.
The list sucks.
Not true. No one will ever be better than the Beatles, right? Because the Beatles are the consensus posterboy for what a pop/rock song should sound like, and no one else has taken that away from them.
But so what? OK Computer is better than most of their albums. I'm not saying Radiohead's better than the Beatles, but we're acting like the Beatles and everyone from that era is untouchable. I think humans are capable of bettering and outdoing themselves, and maybe they already have and we're just blind to it.

Good point. And take Elvis for instance. The king's legacy is untouchable and there will never be a solo artist with quite the same level of impact on the populace of his era. But does that necessarily mean that there haven't been artists in subsequent decades that came along that were more talented than him? Nope.
Quality of work and level of impact are two very different things, it must be noted.
well, at least it had Pauls Boutique...
Upcoming Shows:
Pitchfork Festival: 7/19 @ Union Park
Mountain Oasis Festival: 10/25-27
CoS doesn't have enough clout to make a list of anything let alone have a list anybody should care about. When I initially saw the fuss about Prefab Sprout I thought it would be a good list and debate, then I saw the rest of the bands tagged in the article. No. Thanks.
Idealized nostalgia for the unremembered 60's.
For the record, the Beatles, Dylan, and Pet Sounds always own these things not only because they were first, but also because they really are still the best. I'm not a boomer, I didn't encounter these albums as they came out or even before more contemporary top-shelf stuff, and I didn't drink the kool-aid of VH1/Rolling Stone nostalgia to arrive at this conclusion.
I don't know squat about Kate Bush. I was like, what? who? huh?
5/25-5/27: MOVEMENT DETROIT
6/6: The Field @ The Independent
6/26: Colin Stetson @ The Chapel
The Kinks are surely better than the Beach Boys.

I'm sure another music website will do a more alternatively generic top 100 list that fits your needs, Mr. Fuzz.
